Primary Purpose:
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and essential carpentry skills knowledge and advanced techniques of carpentry. Also emphasizes safety practices project management and the integration of modern technology within traditional carpentry practices with a blend of classroom instruction handson projects and realworld applications to shape the futures of aspiring tradespeople.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelors degree from accredited university preferred
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for subject and level assigned
Certification in vocational education or training
Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Specialized knowledge of carpentry construction and trades
Proficient in using carpentry tools and equipment
General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
Ability to supervise carpentry/construction field experiences
Strong organizational communication and interpersonal skills
Experience:
At least one year student teaching or approved internship

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Strategies
Develop and implement carpentry curriculum prepare lesson plans and instructional materials.
Instruct and ensure students on the proper compliance techniques and safety procedures that should be utilized in a shop
setting.
Provide students handson training in carpentry techniques.
Oversee/supervise Carpentry Program including assisting students in selecting and managing projects.
Stay updated with the latest industry trends and practices.
Coordinate activities among campuses within the district and the community as needed.
Assess and evaluate student performance.
Student Growth and Development
Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
Be a positive role model for students support mission of school district.
Classroom Management and Organization
Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical social and emotional development of
students.
Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
Accompany and supervise students at all offcampus activities including contests workshops and field trips associated with
the carpentry program.
Oversee process of maintaining facilities and equipment.
Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities.
Assist in selection of books equipment and other instructional materials.
Communication
Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents students principals and teachers.
Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues students parents and community members.
Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
Professional Growth and Development
Participate in staff development activities to improve jobrelated skills.
Keep informed of and comply with state district and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
Compile maintain and file all physical and computerized reports records and other documents required.
Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervise assigned teacher aide(s).
Working Conditions:
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent district and regional travel occasional statewide travel prolonged and irregular hours. Regular lifting and carrying moderate weight frequent standing stooping bending pulling and pushing. Work outside and inside on slippery or uneven walking surfaces and around machinery with moving parts. Exposure to extreme temperatures and biological and chemical hazards.
