Job Description
Job Title: BNL Department Chair
Reports To: Principal
*This is for NLCS employees*
BNL Department Chairs in partnership with administration are to provide instructional leadership support and
assistance to all teachers in the department. The chairperson serves as a resource to support a standardsbased
curriculum effective instructional strategies classroom management and instructional materials.
Department Leadership
DC Meetings school leadership
Lead department meetings: Data Review. Course Partner Meetings Instructional Practices
PlusTime Coordinator
Monitor teacher gradebooks
Monitor teacher supervision
Teacher observation
Support substitutes
Foster positive team dynamics & promote staff morale
Work with administration on teacher concerns.
Support schedule/course offerings
Partner with Administration in interviewing teaching candidates
Maintain department workroom & supply needs.
Accreditation
Instructional Leadership
Support professional growth of teachers
Mentor new to BNL and beginning teachers. Support with onboarding. (PS SmartFind GooglePlusTime etc)
PSAT & SAT intervention lessons
Course evaluation
Department data to drive instruction
Textbook Adoption
