The hospital staff chaplain provides pastoral care to patients families and hospital staff that seeks to be sensitive to their belief system. Being present with patients undergoing medical and surgical procedures or treatments facing end of life issues or involved in traumatic accidents the chaplain will assist patients families and staff understand more fully these events as they relate to their emotional and spiritual wellbeing. The chaplain will have the ability to work within a team environment to provide patient care. The ability to work in stressful situations while maintaining a calm demeanor is important. The chaplain should be able to work independently and be flexible when faced with multiple priorities and be available to provide educational support to hospital staff and the community.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Licenses and Certifications Required
Educational Requirements
College degree/4year seminary degree or equivalent qualifications which would lead to the fulfillment of an ecclesiastical endorsement from an established church organization.
Experience Requirements
Special Skills or Training Requirements
4 units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) APC Certification or in process (certification to be completed within two years).
