Job Title: Department Director Instruction
(Areas of accountability Career and Technical Education College and Career Readiness and APP/OJT programs)
Wage/Hour Status: Exempt
Pay Group: A90Salary Plan
Primary Purpose:Provide leadership in strategic planning professional development research and evaluation and regional instructional operations.
Qualifications
Education/Certification/Experience:
Masters degree from a college or university accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or by the United States Department of Education (USDE).
Three years fulltime wageearning experience in statewide or regional administrative supervision in the field of education or education within a correctional environment.
or
Bachelors degree from a college or university accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or by the United States Department of Education (USDE).
Five years fulltime wageearning experience in statewide or regional administrative supervision in the field of education or education within correctional environment.
This position requires personal technology that will enable the completion of job duties and responsibilities when working remotely.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of national state and local education goals and objectives.
Knowledge of learning theory program planning curriculum development and management of instructional programs.
Knowledge of statutory and regulatory requirements in education and instruction.
Knowledge of current educational trends methods research and technology.
Skill in written and oral communication planning and organization.
Ability to interpret and implement laws rules and policies.
Ability to plan and present information to a variety of audiences.
Ability to facilitate various size groups using facilitative leadership skills.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Maintain a close relationship with the Division Director of Instruction and Districtlevel program administrators to ensure information exchange coordination of efforts and general support for decisionmaking processes; participate as a positive and productive member of the Division of Instruction team.
2. Initiate the development and implementation of programmatic goals and instructional objectives on a district wide basis at the campus level within the scope of policy statutes. administrative direction assess student needs and operational constraints.
3. Demonstrate strong communication public relations and interpersonal skills; maintain communication with appropriate WSD and Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) leadership and other stakeholders.
4. Prepare and maintain a variety of narrative and statistical reports records and files related to assigned duties.
5. Assist in the development of budgets including staffing needs instructional materials and resources and provision for campus activities and programs.
6. Maintain a high level of competency in the field of education remaining current in issues related to areas of responsibility.
7. Select train evaluate and supervise the performance of assigned staff as directed; provide for continuing staff training develop work schedules and manage assigned personnel as directed.
8. Travel as required for training and/or articulation statewide.
9. Perform other duties as assigned.

10. Maintain confidentiality in handling sensitive information receivedin the performance of the job duties.
11. Perform duties in a professional manner through daily punctual attendance at location of work assignment.
12. Follow Windham School District policies and procedures in completing assigned job duties.
13. Execute duties in a professional ethical and responsible manner as defined in 19 TAC Chapter 247 Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators.
Supervisor Responsibilities:Manage evaluate and supervise the regional or statewide program administrators and support staff.
