Summary
The Associate Director of Strategic Sourcing & Procurement Management will work report directly to the CFO and be responsible for developing and overseeing the Strategic Sourcing & Procurement Management process (GMP nonGMP & CAPEX) inclusive of Sourcing Selection Contract Management Supplier Risk Management Category Management in support of cell therapy manufacturing process process development early research and corporate functions within the US. Responsible for negotiating and contracting with the supply base for various services ensuring alignment with the strategic sourcing category strategies and overall business plans. Routine engagement and collaboration with the CN team and realization of global synergies will also be a key component of this role. This individual will partner with the leadership & teams across various functions including Finance IT Human Resources Manufacturing Operations Process Development Research Clinical Operations & Medical Affairs to support research & development and clinical manufacturing operations while maintain focus on cGMP or technical requirements cost targets and company policies & procedures. This individual will design develop and implement a Strategic Sourcing roadmap leveraging career experience along with existing tools and knowledge of organizational and individual team goals to target mid and longterm success. The planning and prioritization of strong internal relationships and understanding of stakeholders needs will be critical in success and must be managed continuously refined and owned by the candidate. The position requires proven leadership and expertise conducting strategic sourcing procurement negotiation & terms while providing optimal service levels cost adherence and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement sourcing category strategies and priorities that align with those of the functional goals & objectives for the Manufacturing Operations Process Development Research IT & corporate services departments
- Establish effective ongoing relationships with senior stakeholders in all business units to ensure Strategic Sourcing activities effectively support functional strategies
- Drive greater maturity of category management capabilities and actively support the transformation of the procurement function
- Ensure active category leadership and change management support that challenges traditional spending behavior service level definition and policy setting to enable productivity and efficiency improvements
- Maintain deep knowledge and expertise in the dynamics of the supply markets delivery models of suppliers/agencies & effective KPIs to monitor and communicate performance.
- Lead spend analytics and category governance efforts to generate sourcing insights and opportunities
- Lead strategic and complex competitive events and commercial agreements as needed. Drive best practices across the team for development of business cases cost analysis execution of RFx events drafting of SOWs master agreements contract negotiation etc.
- Define and implement guided buying concepts and procurement channels for realization of sourcing strategies and overall business value
- Ensure sourcing practices are in accordance with corporate ethics financial policy and internal control requirements
- Pursue ongoing development of relevant skills including learning agility using data to provide insights business partnering change and project management category management and strategic sourcing in order to realize optimal results
Key Relationships:
- Establish key stakeholder relationships with internal and external stakeholders in Manufacturing Operations Research Process Development Clinical Operations IT Finance Human Resources and Facilities. Ability to interact with all levels within the organization.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in supply chain management Business/Engineering Finance or related field or equivalent work experience required.
- A minimum of 7 years working within Supply Chain / Supply Planning / Procurement/Finance
- Extensive experience in a similar position within a cGMP environment in the biotech/biopharma industry or comparable industry Cell or gene therapy experience a plus.
- Demonstrated experience in building and operating core Procurement functions
- Experience in a growth environment managing the fast pace of change balancing day to day operational demands with the need to extend and improve the planning horizon to prepare for tomorrow
- In depth understanding of S&OP production planning and materials management processes
- An ability to build strong partnerships and effectively integrate with external collaborators to drive projects/programs forward in a matrixed environment
- Demonstrated experience in the use of Sourcing & Procurement tools with strong business acumen and financial analysis experience
- Ability to work independently and successfully prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously integrate crossfunctional issues and balance competing priorities effectively.
- Knowledge of cGMP regulations and FDA guidance related to manufacturing of cellbased products.
