    This position is for 7.5hours per day at 180days per year.
    Position pay: PSE Salary Schedule Level 5 $ 24.15 (2425 PSE SALARY SCHEDULE)

    GENERAL SUMMARY

    This position works with the counseling center to develop and present a complete career development program. Responsibilities includemaintaining and coordinating the use of career center materials;working with counselors to develop and present career education teaching units;working with staff to infuse career units into the curriculum;scheduling career center events;promoting career and college events; andperforming a variety of other duties needed in presenting a career education program.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    1. Researches career center materials available for purchase; reviews items with staff and submits approved orders to district office. Receives and verifies incoming materials; displays materials in the career center.
    1. Assists students who come in to the career center for information; assists students in finding information and clarifying needs. Conduct individual meetings with seniors to discuss postsecondary plans. Oversee schedule and use of room computers and equipment. Monitor student behavior. Respond to student and parent inquiries; acts as a guide to resources.
    1. Works with counselors to plan career development units for each grade level; assists in presenting information during career development unit to students. May monitor career planning and pathway interest for students.
    1. Provide classroom presentations for each class for career exploration and postsecondary planning
    1. Schedules and advertises college technical school and military staff visits to career center. Coordinates career center activities with work experience programs; arranges for utilization of community resources.
    1. Develop and maintain relationships with students teachers parents staff community military companies and colleges on a daily basis.
    1. Arranges for occupational speakers; polls students to determine interest in specific occupations; notifies students when speakers have been scheduled.
    1. Maintains working knowledge of career exploration programs (currently Xello); assists students in using webbased career exploration resources.
    1. Posts advertisements for college and military entrance tests (SAT/ACT/PSAT/PLAN/ASVAB); communicate information to students facilitates students signing up for tests prepares for test days.
    1. Communicate with families and assist students in; completion of the FAFSA or WASFA application available scholarships postsecondary applications for trade schools twoyear colleges colleges/universities etc. Track data related to student completion. Host FAFSA/WASFA events for students and families.
    1. Coordinate field trips and related events promoting STEM careers for girls via IGNITE partnership. Work with CTE STEM teachers in the process of recruiting girls interested in STEM careers and educating on opportunities in STEM fields.
    1. Promote 2year college options and trade schools by coordinating college outreach and assistance with applications and organizing field trips to 2year colleges and trade schools.
    1. Promote apprenticeship opportunities including; planning and delivering Career Days create apprenticeship training workshops (info sessions) and plan and deliver District Apprenticeship Fair at PCSC.
    1. Works with organizations such AJAC to develop opportunities for our students to participate in preapprenticeships.
    1. Receives and sorts incoming mail for career center; determines which information might be of interest to staff members or students; distributes information. Answers the telephone; provides information or routes caller to appropriate staff member. Inputs correspondence reports and forms; duplicates materials.
    1. Manage the planning methods for presenting career information to students; provides information to students concerning decisionmaking techniques for postsecondary options.
    1. Manages with counselors the promotion of volunteer preapprenticeship and summer opportunities.
    1. Promotes and organizes CTE WACTA and PC3 Foundation Scholarships. Also manages all local scholarships specific to your building; including BEST Scholarship and advertise any other scholarships that emerge.
    1. Manages and works with counseling department for coordination of special events such as College Application Completion Night Senior Awards Night Decision Day Celebration Senior Parent Night.
    1. Manages and works with the CTE department for coordination of special events such as Career Day Health Career Fair and Construction Career Day. Work with students for signups registration placement confirmation and itinerary. Collects reviews and thank you notes; distributes certificates. Helps provide supervision on field trips.
    1. Works with career counselor and district webmaster to update career center web pages such as the bulletin board college visits and calendar of events. Monitors to keep information current and relevant (e.g. check links).
    1. Performs related duties as assigned.
    REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
    Reports to Principal; responsible to Principals and CTE Director.
    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Education and Experience
    High school graduation or equivalent with collegelevel coursework in career planning career and technical education counseling career development or related areas. Three years of secretarial work experience including organizing activities for school or community programs. Experience with secondary school students preferable.

    Allowable Substitution
    Advanced technical training in secretarial procedures may substitute on a monthformonth basis for up to one year of the required experience.

    Knowledge Skills and Abilities
    Ability to operate standard office equipment including computer and software applications (ie Internet Word Processing Spreadsheets and Presentation PowerPoint). Knowledge of general secretarial procedures. Keyboarding skills. Effective written and oral communication skills. Ability to set up and maintain accurate records. Ability to meet schedules deadlines and coordinate multiple tasks. Ability to demonstrate creativity when promoting events creating displays and preparing materials. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to work independently. Ability to learn career center procedures. Ability to learn Xello (formerly Career Cruising) and navigate features effectively. Ability to manage Xello database for various activities and student portfolios. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students staff and the general public.
