Crisis Response Coordinator (CRC) (fulltime 40 hours) Nonexempt


BUILD Inc. (Broader Urban Involvement and Leadership Development) is presently seeking a committed selfmotivated and innovative individual to join our team. BUILD is a nationally respected gang intervention violence prevention and youth development organization based on Chicagos West Side. The Crisis Response Coordinator (CRC) is responsible for supervising a team of first responders. In addition this person will act as a first responder to provide immediate support to youth and their families after a shooting or other act of violence including emotional support initial advocacy and support in navigating criminal justice systems. Services take place within targeted communities and area hospitals as needed. Responsibilities call for the (CRC) to be on call at any time of the day or night. The (CRC) reports directly to the Crisis Response Unit Manager (CRUM).


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Connect violenceexposed youth and their families with comprehensive services that promote healing foster lifeskills and prevent highrisk/consequences behaviors that make them vulnerable to violence and other negative outcomes
  • Coordinates response to violence in key areas of the community after incidents in collaboration with the Intervention team to organize outreach community organizing and canvassing
  • Ensures that all client related data systems for record keeping and reporting purposes are updated on a weekly basis and overall performance should be reported monthly
  • Ensures program achieves expected performance milestones in accordance with contracts and expectations of funding sources making necessary adjustments as needed
  • Ensures that all team members are utilizing the BUILD Universal Referral form to document and connect families to BUILD services
  • Compiles information for reports and ensures compliance of team members
  • Responds to crisis calls within a reasonable preestablished timeframe
  • Represents BUILD to broaden community coalition and committee meetings as needed and brings information back to share with the team
  • Attends departmental and agencywide staff meetings as scheduled and agencywide events as required
  • Coleads biweekly meetings with team
  • Maintains knowledge current in the field in way of participation of coursework seminars and/or workshops
  • Participate in agencywide fundraising events including evenings and weekends
  • Participate in agency outreach and recruitment events including evenings and weekends
  • Participate in civic engagement activities that advance the mission of BUILD Inc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements


  • Minimum of three years of experience working with innercity youth in a human service traumainformed care social services setting or related field
  • Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal verbal and written communication skills
  • An automobile is required along with current insurance and a valid drivers license
  • Maintain respectful and appropriate relationships with program participants all levels of agency staff and the various publics of the agency demonstrating sensitivity to all ethnic and economic backgrounds
  • Must be willing to travel as needed
  • Must be passionate about youth development work
  • Must successfully pass extensive background check.
