Responsibilities
- Promotes a positive work environment and contributes to a dynamic teamfocused work unit that actively helps one other to achieve optimal department results.
- Collaborates with all members of the health care team by actively communicating and reporting pertinent information and data in a comprehensive manner to facilitate efficient and effective accomplishment of patient care.
- Provides oversight to support personnel of patient care duties to ensure properly performed.
- Effectively communicates with the patient family physician and coach regarding the patients ability to return to practice and competition.
SERVICE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Practices prevention recognition assessment management treatment and reconditioning of injuries in accordance with athletic training practice act and in collaboration with providers.
- Documents patient assessments and treatment notes accurately.
- Works in an integrated manner with the health team in the provision of exercise and treatment modalities.
QUALITY/SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provides safe effective athletic training appropriate to the patients ability and injury based upon the relevant evidencebased practice.
- Prepares patients for practice and competition through the appropriate utilization of braces bandages wrapping and taping techniques to prevent injury. Provides emergency care within the athletic trainer scope of practice.
- Proactively identifies/assesses any facility environment or patient related issues documenting and communicating to management as appropriate. Corrects minor safety hazards.
FINANCE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Utilizes resources with cost effectiveness and value creation in mind. Selfmotivated to independently manage time effectively and prioritize daily tasks assisting coworkers as needed.
- Promotes brand awareness while partnering within the community to increase service utilization.
GROWTH/INNOVATION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assists in the organization and direction of specific activities of the department in coordination with leadership.
- Supports hospital and department goals and offers innovative solutions through participation in department projects to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of current practices. May participate in committees relevant special topics in professional literature at clinic meetings grand rounds conferences and meetings in coordination with leadership.
- Seeks opportunities to expand learning beyond baseline competencies with a focus on continual process improvement. Remains current on professional issues and clinical skills. Assumes responsibility for selfgrowth and development by participating in inservice programs and continuing education.

Qualifications

WORK EXPERIENCE

License/Certification
- AT Certified Athletic Trainer State Licensure OR
- ATTemp Certified Athletic Trainer Temporary State Licensure AND
- BLS Basic Life Support (AHA)

- Demonstrates the skills and competencies necessary to safely perform the assigned job determined through ongoing skills competency assessments and performance evaluations
- Sufficient proficiency in speaking reading and writing the English language necessary to perform the essential functions of this job especially with regard to activities impacting patient or employee safety or security
- Ability to effectively communicate with patients physicians family members and coworkers in a manner consistent with a customer service focus and application of positive language principles
- Adapts to multiple ongoing priorities with minimal supervision; actively participating in problemsolving

Houston Methodist The Woodlands opened in 2017 as the eighth hospital in the Houston Methodist system. This 187bed 470000squarefoot fullservice acute care hospital offers many of the same services as our flagship hospital in the Texas Medical Center. Also on the $380 million hospital campus located at the intersection of I45 and TX 242 is a medical office building which opened in 2016.
