Position Title: Dance and Theater Arts TeacherLocation: Ipswich High SchoolsFTE: 1.0 Full Time 10Month School YearReports to: Building Principal/Fine Arts DirectorUnion: Ipswich Educators AssociationThe Ipswich Public Schools are seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic individual with a passion for teaching both dance and theatre arts. The ideal candidate will be an inspiring educator who can cultivate a love of movement performance and dramatic arts in young adults while providing a wellrounded and engaging note that this position is Responsibilities:Teach a variety of dance courses providing instruction in diverse dance styles techniques and choreography aligned with the 2019 Massachusetts Arts Curriculum Framework standards for that dance instruction emphasizes physical fitness body awareness coordination and wellness while integrating the principles of dance literacy (creating performing responding and connecting) as outlined in the state framework providing students with a comprehensive understanding of dance as both an art form and a component of physical acting and theatre courses within the Fine Arts Department covering foundational acting techniques scene study improvisation script analysis and performance and oversee all aspects of the afterschool extracurricular theatre program including largescale productions for which a stipend will be students in preparation for and participation in the Massachusetts Educational Theatre Guild (METG) drama competition fostering a spirit of creativity collaboration and and guide high school theatre mentors as they support and collaborate with middle school productions ensuring effective mentorship and a positive educational experience for all students Qualifications:A Bachelors degree in Dance Theatre Arts or a related field is required; a Masters degree is Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) teaching license in Dance or TheatrePrevious teaching experience in dance theatre arts and technical theatre at the secondary school directing student productions and participation in theatre communication and organizational skills.A commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to do this job.
