Position Overview
The Intervention Specialist provides targeted support to students with diverse learning needs by creating individualized education plans (IEPs) and adapting classroom instruction to foster academic and social growth. This role involves collaborating with teachers parents and other school staff to ensure students receive appropriate accommodations and modifications. The specialist is responsible for assessing student progress maintaining compliance with educational standards and advocating for students success in inclusive learning environments.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with general education teachers to interpret and assess the strengths and areas for growth in students with diverse abilities facilitating the development and implementation of inclusive classroom intervention strategies.
- Adapt and customize general education curricula to align with individual education plans ensuring that students with disabilities have access to core instruction.
- Foster strong ongoing communication channels with parents guardians and the broader professional team to address the academic social and emotional development of students.
- Proactively engage families and staff to ensure a holistic approach to each students growth
- Engage in continuous professional development by actively participating in workshops seminars inservice training and higher education opportunities.
- Leverage data to drive instruction by utilizing assessments and tracking student progress to inform instructional decisions.
- Facilitate crossfunctional collaboration by working closely with general education teachers specialists and other members of the schools multidisciplinary team.
- Develop and manage inclusion schedules to maximize student participation in the least restrictive environment ensuring that services are delivered efficiently and students have the opportunity to succeed in both special and general education settings.
Qualifications Education and Work Experience
- Experience working with or around K12 children and/or families. Previous classroom experience preferred.
- Bachelors degree in Special Education or a related field required; Masters degree in Special Education or a relevant area preferred.
- Valid Ohio Intervention Specialist License or eligibility to obtain licensure in Ohio.
- Demonstrates expertise in developing implementing and managing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Proven experience in collaborating with general education teachers paraprofessionals and other educational staff to design and deliver inclusive instruction for students with disabilities.
- Strong knowledge and application of multitiered support systems (MTSS) Response to Intervention (RTI) frameworks and other intervention strategies.
- Proficiency in using datadriven instruction and assessment tools.
- Familiarity with the Alternate Assessment for Students with Significant Cognitive Disabilities (AASCD) and other specialized assessments.
- Familiarity with the Ohio Operating Standards for the Education of Children with Disabilities Ohio Model Policies & Procedures and federal and state legislation.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to manage multiple students IEPs and inclusion schedules.
- Demonstrates ability to provide leadership and guidance to paraprofessionals and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to create a positive inclusive and adaptive learning environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with students parents and professional staff.
Salary and Benefits
- Contract Provisions: 191 days Limited Contract
- 712 Intervention Specialist is a fulltime exempt position. We offer a competitive salary and an excellent healthcare and retirement benefits package. Salary is confirmed via the Cincinnati Federation of Teachers (CFT) agreement.
