DESCRIPTION: We are seeking a dynamic flexible and innovative educator to lead a new model of a program classroom within our alternative learning program. This unique new program model serves multiage learners and meets two days per week for inperson instruction. The instructor will also teach 2 other days using Valleys regular model of instruction. The ideal candidate is passionate about handson learning and is excited to cocreate a schedule and curriculum that blends districtprovided resources with outofthebox studentcentered learning opportunities in English Language Arts Math and STEM. Design and implement engaging standardsaligned lessons in ELA Math and STEM for a mixedage group of students. Collaboratively develop a yearly scope and sequence and weekly schedule incorporating both district curriculum and creative instructional approaches. Foster a welcoming inclusive and nurturing classroom environment that supports the needs of diverse learners. Meet monthly with students and when appropriate the students parents for the purpose of reviewing the students learning plan and be able to determine if adequate monthly progress is being made and make adjustments based on current rules. Integrate handson projectbased learning to enrich academic instruction. Partner closely with families to support student learning both in and outside the classroom. Provide regular communication and feedback to families on student progress and participation. Maintain accurate documentation and student records in alignment with district and Washington State alternative learning regulations. Understands the Science of Reading and multiple avenues to teach reading to students and to parents. Participate in staff meetings training and professional development as needed.
