Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join our Water team in any of the following offices: Metairie or Baton Rouge LA; Houston or Dallas TX; Tallahassee TN; Pittsburgh or Philadelphia PA; and/or Chattanooga TN. This entrylevel fulltime position requires strict adherence to health and safety procedures attention to detail a strong work ethic and excellent communication skills. The ideal candidate will have excellent written and strong interpersonal communication skills multitasking skills efficient time management and the flexibility required to support different project managers concurrently.

As a Geotechnical Engineer you will play a key role in delivering engineering and consulting services for a variety of projects including those focused on shoreline stability flood risk reduction and waterfront infrastructure resilience.

Role accountabilities:

As a Geotechnical Engineer your responsibilities will primarily include officerelated tasks with some field work responsibilities .

Office responsibilities may include the following:

  • Geotechnical analyses for levees dams floodwalls and other hydraulic structures including but not limited to seepage slope stability and settlement analysis and preparing technical reports.
  • Preparation of geotechnical recommendations that aid in the development of designs drawings specifications and reports
  • Work with our multidisciplinary Water Management team that includes Civil Structural and Geotechnical Engineers to deliver innovative designs for our Clients
  • Data evaluation of instrumentation systems atlevees spillways outlet works and slopes.
  • Assists in planning and coordinating geotechnical field investigations
  • Reviews boring logs and laboratory data
  • With this role as a geotechnical engineer you will work on projects both small and large and as a team member under the close guidance and supervision of a senior engineer
  • Assists in executing detailed analysis and evaluation of geotechnical hazards under the supervision of a project engineer as it relates to the design and construction phases of the project
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills to fluently communicate to clients and present technical information.

Field activities may include the following:

  • Geotechnical field investigation oversight;
  • Site visits to evaluate project conditions; and
  • Subcontractor oversight

While this position requires both field and office work the candidate should expect to spend 1025% of their time in the field. Candidates must have a good driving record be willing to work outside for extended periods. Candidates must also be able to meet the physical demands associated with performing field work such working in a standing position for extended periods of time.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in Geotechnical Engineering Civil Engineering or related discipline

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Engineer in Training (EIT) Certificate
  • Masters degree
  • Prior internship experience

Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors such as experience education budget internal equity project and location.
