Job Summary

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Knoxville warmly invites applications for the position of Collision Repair Technology Instructor. This exciting fulltime opportunity offers a supportive and engaging work environment with a schedule of 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

As a Collision Repair Technology Instructor you will play a pivotal role in inspiring and shaping the future of our students. You will have the chance to develop and deliver a dynamic curriculum that covers all aspects of collision repair. Your responsibilities will include conducting student evaluations maintaining performance records assisting students with job placement and building strong relationships with local businesses and industry partners. Job Duties

  • Teaching Methodology and Student Engagement: The Associate Instructor of Collision Repair Technology at the Tennessee College of Applied Technology Knoxville will play a crucial role in enhancing student understanding and engagement within the program. This position requires the ability to effectively implement a multimethod teaching approach utilizing demonstrations lectures handson activities and realworld job site experiences to equip students with the knowledge necessary for employment in the collision repair industry. The instructor will assess and adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs interests and learning abilities of students developing accurate and objective standards to measure learning outcomes. Responsibilities include teaching all phases of the program including areas related to ASE certification while monitoring grading and evaluating individual student progress. (Essential)
  • Record Keeping Reporting and Graduate Tracking: Maintaining student records in the colleges Banner student records management software and submitting timely reports are essential duties. The instructor will assist in recruiting new students and supporting graduate placement fostering strong public relations with local businesses and industries. Building and maintaining relationships with area employers is vital for facilitating referrals and employment opportunities for career and technical students. Additionally the Associate Instructor will be responsible for maintaining and updating the programs graduate placement information. Effective communication in a professional tactful and courteous manner with students faculty and the general public is essential. The instructor will perform assigned duties following safety procedures and rules adhering to established practices curriculum and standards. (Essential)
  • Professional Development: Remain current within the instructional field and technologies; acquire maintain and apply knowledge of current instructional methodologies and materials; attend scheduled college and division professional development and inservice activities; support related professional organizations; participate in the annual faculty evaluation process. (Essential)
  • Service to Students: Comply with FERPA laws; participate in advising recruitment admissions and orientation of potential students; assist students with job placement; support student activities including SkillsUSA NTHS graduation and other events. (Essential)
  • Service to the College Community and Accreditation: Collaboration with outside agencies and participation in program advisory committees will be required along with conducting visits to local businesses to establish and maintain good public relations for the college. The instructor will also assist in the recruitment and selection of college personnel as assigned participate in accreditation assessment and performance funding processes and support the Colleges decisionmaking initiatives. They will provide input on budgets attend convocation and commencement exercises and engage in mandatory college programs. Maintaining an active advisory committee and developing positive relationships with colleagues is essential as is working to meet and exceed COE benchmarks for student completion and placement as well as accreditation standards. Some travel may be necessary. (Essential)
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or administration on and off campus. (Essential)

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent with a technical diploma in a related field
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a collisionrelated field
Master ASEcertified technician or eligible to sit and pass the examination within the first six months of hire
Strong handson technical background in the field of instruction
Demonstrated effective communication and organization skills

Preferred Qualifications

Teaching and supervision in areas of Collision Repair
Earned an Associates Degree from an accredited institution
Knowledge of Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) policies and procedures

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Must have a strong handson technical background in all aspects of collision repair
Must possess the organizational and communication skills necessary to be an effective teacher
Must commit to remaining current in the field of collision repair
Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Must possess computer skills and the ability to utilize technology to enhance teaching
Ability to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions
Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with students the public and other employees
Strong customer service skills
Computer skills including general knowledge of Microsoft Office
The instructor will ensure that all activities comply with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)

Physical Demands / Working Conditions

The workday has the potential to be varied based on the needs of the students and faculty. Lab and material prep will always be necessary daily and the requirement to move between classrooms and work areas often with materials and supplies. Overseeing a lab also involves standing and walking. Must be able to stand for extended periods bend stoop kneel twist crouch and reach overhead and lift a minimum of 20 pounds. Must be able to use tools or special devices to work.

SALARY: Commensurate with education and experience according to Tennessee Board of Regents guidelines within the range of $50142 $60171.
