The Building Maintenance Worker General plays a vital role in maintaining the safety appearance and functionality of campus facilities. This position is responsible for performing routine repairs and general maintenance work across a variety of trades including basic carpentry electrical plumbing and custodial support. The successful candidate will demonstrate reliability attention to detail and a proactive approach to addressing facilityrelated needs.
Responsibilities
- Perform general building maintenance duties including painting patching and minor repairs to walls doors windows and fixtures.
- Assist with basic plumbing and electrical tasks such as unclogging drains replacing light bulbs and repairing switches or outlets.
- Respond to and complete work orders in a timely and professional manner.
- Support event setups and breakdowns including moving furniture and equipment.
- Conduct routine inspections of assigned areas to identify maintenance needs or safety hazards.
- Maintain tools equipment and workspaces in clean and safe condition.
- Follow safety procedures and guidelines at all times.
- Provide assistance during inclement weather including snow and ice removal.
- Assist other skilled trades staff as needed.
- Participate in oncall rotation and be available for afterhours emergencies or university closures.
Education
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in general building maintenance or related field.
- Must be able to work in all weather conditionsincluding rain sleet or snowand be available during various holidays and weekends as scheduled or needed.
- Must be able to lift 30 pounds and perform physical labor including climbing ladders and working in confined spaces.
- Valid drivers license and reliable transportation.
