As a Police Communications Operator (PCO) you will help coordinate information in support of PSP law enforcement functions. You will receive calls from the general public and county 911 operators regarding emergency and nonemergency police issues. You can expect to question callers to gather details determine response requirements and assign relative priorities of incidents. The information you gather will be dispatched and relayed to responding troopers. You will be responsible for contacting municipal police fire ambulance and other relevant agencies to request assistance and response. In this position you will utilize various databases to research and maintain records as well as establish and maintain incident information in electronic record management systems. Additionally you will communicate with Troopers and other PCOs regarding active incidents or concerns.
