Other Conditions: We are recruiting to fill two casual hire Research Associates.
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for the daily operation of the Plant Tissue Laboratory and the Feed and Forage Test Laboratory.
Performs laboratory analyses of plant material feeds and forages. This includes all procedures involved in preparation of standards sample preparation and the operation and recording of results from the analytical instruments.
Trains and supervises undergraduate and graduate students lab assistants in routine sample preparation and analyses.
Maintain analytical instruments; perform routine preventive maintenance procedures arrange for repair or servicing of instruments order replacement parts and maintain maintenance and service records.
Maintain adequate laboratory supplies.
Compile and summarize data and prepare reports on the results and laboratory services provided.
Conduct literature searches and research on current related projects and on new modified techniques and procedure.
Conduct appropriate analytical test as part of a quality control program to establish and check on the reliability and accuracy of all analytical procedures.
Provide assistance to the Soil Testing Lab and the Plant Disease Clinic. Assists in sample preparation and routine analysis when priorityrush samples are received.
Work cooperatively with other professional staff members in developing and adapting new analytical techniques and procedures to improve laboratory efficiency and productivity.
