Job Description

JobDescription (General Summary):

Manages the development and administration of policies and programs of social services and community agencies correctional institutions rehabilitative services and related programs that are designed to protect and promote the social welfare of individuals and communities. Directs subordinate supervisors and staff.


Role and Responsibilities:

  • Pay Grade: M

    Manages the administration of policies and programs designed to protect and protect children and families. Ensures mandated services with priority of child safety and service provision to children and families. Directs subordinate supervisors and staff.

    Primary Duties:
    • Analyzes and assesses the effectivenessof existing programs to ensure the identified outcome measures are achieved.
    • Assures agency compliance with policies appropriate documentation and reporting requirements.
    • Builds and encourages a cooperative teamoriented environment within unit(s) and with other agencies and providers.
    • Creates and maintain positive working relationships within the community and on the county DFCSBoard.
    • Develops and administers budgets.
    • Facilitates communication within the Unit(s)/agency on a specific case level as well as on a procedure/policy level.
    • Interviews hires directs trainsevaluates the performance of and when necessary disciplines and discharges social services employees.
    • Leads and administers a comprehensive system of public assistance employability and social services.
    • Manages human resources and directs administrative activities for groups of social services employees.
    • Plans administers and maintains the operation of social services programs.
    • Reviews new and current programs to determine their efficiency effectiveness and compliance with state local and federal regulations.

Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelors degree in a related area from an accredited college or university ANDtwo (2) years of jobrelated supervisory experience in a human service delivery program.
  • OR
    • Bachelors degree in a related area from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of experience at the lower level Child Welfare Svc Case Mgr Spv (SSP073) or position equivalent.
  • Note: Related area for Bachelors degree include Social Work orBehavioral Science degrees include but are not limited to the following: social science psychology sociology child development family studies criminal justice education public health public administration nursing.

    Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates who in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications demonstrate some or all of the following skills/experience:
    • Supervisory work experience with DFCS (or comparable human services agency) managing Child Protective Services (CPS) Foster Care and/or Adoptions.
