Job Description

Great Prairie Area Education Agency has an opening for a SpeechLanguage Assistant.

181Day Contract (7hour days)beginning with theschool year.

Starting pay: $16.24$16.74/hour with a generous paid leave package in addition to a monthly cafeteria plan allotment of $861 and IPERS retirement.

This position will serveRegion 3.

Region 3:Cardinal Davis County MoultonUdell Ottumwa Ottumwa Christian and Seton Catholic.

Position Overview:

The SpeechLanguage Assistant provides articulation language voice and fluency services to students as specified by the assigned SpeechLanguage Pathologist.

Qualifications:

The SpeechLanguage Assistant must be at least 18 years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent. The candidate must have the experience or capacity to demonstrate positive interpersonal skills cooperative teamwork and excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities:

  1. Implements speechlanguage activities as directed by the SpeechLanguage Pathologist.
  2. Identifies and records correct/incorrect student responses.
  3. Maintain communication with assigned SpeechLanguage Pathologist on an ongoing basis.
  4. Assists SpeechLanguage Pathologist in material preparation.
  5. Participates in parent/teacher conferences or staffings as requested by the SpeechLanguage Pathologist.
  6. Maintains confidentiality of all student information.
  7. Maintains data required for use in local school district (LEA) AEA state and federal reporting.
  8. Assumes such other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the assigned SpeechLanguage Pathologist and the Regional Special Education Director.
  9. Participate in staff development opportunities as requested by the assigned SpeechLanguage Pathologist and the Regional Director.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Ability to travel between schools/sites served.
  2. Normal routine levels of activity related to bending carrying climbing hearing lifting reaching sitting standing vision and walking and may also involve aboveaverage levels of activity at times that cant always be anticipated.
