POSITION SUMMARY:

The Human Resource Specialist will assist the Human Resource Director in developing implementing and administering district policies and procedures ensuring state and federal employment laws are met.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors Degree in human resources management business administration public administration or a related field is preferred
- Experience in human resources and/or benefits
- Two years clerical office or related experience
- Experience with various Office software such as Word and Excel
- Ability to learn software applications quickly and efficiently
- Effective organizational skills
- Proficiency in record keeping and attention to detail
- Ability to work with staff teachers at various educational levels
- Ability to travel between school sites within the District
- Proficient communicator with excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with all levels of district staff and with a diverse community
- Ability to work independently
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Initiate necessary background checks for certified staff classified staff coaches and volunteers to submit for board approval
- Responsible for all aspects of the Human Resource Visions and iVisions as it pertains to employing changing and terminating all employees and positions
- Coordinate and facilitate new hire training and onboarding programs for classified staff and district substitute teachers
- Facilitate district wide HR related trainings to all levels of staff
- Ensures all newly hired employees are submitted through the EVerify system
- Works as the substitute coordinator ensuring all substitute teachers accurate timesheets are submitted to Educational Services Inc. (ESI)
- Attend various conferences inservices and training
- Works with Director to complete and submit SDER report annually
- Updates employee handbook
- Prepare and distribute information to sites for upcoming wellness programs i.e. Biometrics Flu Shots MOM.
- Works with insurance broker to facilitate open enrollment vendor fairs and assists with the education on district benefit plans
- Assist with inputting information regarding end of year OSHA reports and government census surveys
- Post available positions on TalentEd to recruit new staff for vacant positions
- Coordinates all aspects of Medical Dental and Vision benefits for staff district wide through
- Submits necessary benefit forms to ASRS for district retirees
- Assists business department with verifying billing pertaining to ASRS Medical Dental Vision and supplemental insurance.
- Perform general clerical duties as requested.
- Exhibits patience courtesy and tact when dealing with others.
- Answers telephone to provide information take message or transfer calls.
