We have an exciting opportunity for a talented individual with corporate governance and reporting experience to join the Capital Markets Department at the FCA.
The FCAs Capital Markets Department plays a pivotal role at the heart of the UKs wholesale financial markets. We set rules that govern how financial markets operate and supervise firms that are engaged in those markets. As part of our work to strengthen UK markets we have been delivering an exciting programme of capital markets reforms including the biggest listing rule changes in over 3 decades significant reforms to prospectus rules and a new public offer regime.
You will join a dedicated team of policy professionals and supervisors who are focused on shaping creative and evidencebased regulatory solutions that benefit consumers markets and competition. We work collaboratively including with stakeholders across the FCA and externally to solve problems and deliver market integrity. We are committed to sharing our knowledge and encouraging new ideas.
What will you be doing
Representing the FCA as its corporate reporting and governance expert in engagements with relevant external bodies both domestically and internationally such as the UK Endorsement Board DBT IOSCO the FRC and the ICAEW
Providing expert advice creativity and critical judgement to help shape support and develop relevant policy solutions on future regulation
Working closely with other professional colleagues both internal and external to shape the outcomes of relevant regulatory workstreams
Mentoring and guiding FCA students preparing for and taking professional examinations
Forging developing and maintaining key strategic relationships with individuals both within and external to the FCA
Sharing knowledge and experience through partnering education and consulting and providing thought leadership in the capital markets and corporate reporting spheres
What will you get from the role
Significant exposure to capital markets and the corporate reporting and governance environments whilst working closely with a wide array of stakeholders including market participants trade and other regulatory and government bodies both within the UK and internationally
To be active in shaping wholesale markets and the area of corporate reporting in the UK and internationally both at standard setting and supervisory level
Exposure to FCA Senior Management with periodic discussions at both the executive regulation and policy committee and the FCA Board
To foster and maintain a broad and effective range of professional contacts throughout the corporate reporting and wider regulatory landscape

Minimum
Prior experience of policy development including engagement with a wide range of stakeholders and implementation of complex deliverables
Prior experience of wholesale market regulation corporate reporting and the application of our rules in practice (must have an understanding of the FCA Handbook and associated law)
Prior experience working within the corporate reporting environment
Essential
Ability to build a strong network across the organisation and externally. Confidence in working at all levels across the FCA to deliver and provide advice and challenge on a range of matters
Credible and persuasive communicator able to communicate views positively and effectively to all levels of staff and stakeholders inside and outside the organisation
Ability to collaborate and coordinate with other professionals both inside and outside the organisation
Sound judgement including being prepared to make reasoned choices in circumstances of limited or inconclusive information
Strong team player who shares knowledge provides training and inspires others to develop skills and capabilities
Excellent delivery capability with ability to prioritise and manage multiple workstreams to tight deadlines
