Job Description

We are seeking to appoint a talented innovative and ambitious teacher of English. This is an exciting time to join the school as we are increasing our numbers on role significantly and recruiting several new staff to meet this need. If you provide highquality teaching and have a natural passion for improving the life chances of our children then this could be the role for you.

We believe every young person has the right to a highquality English education and that the skills they develop through English prepare them to be successful lifelong learners.

The English curriculum team aim to ensure all pupils can:

  • Read easily fluently and with good understanding
  • Develop the habit of reading widely and often for both pleasure and information
  • Acquire a wide vocabulary an understanding of grammar and knowledge of linguistic connections for reading writing and spoken language
  • Appreciate our rich and varied literary heritage
  • Write clearly accurately and coherently adapting their language and style in and for a range of contexts purposes and audiences
  • Use discussion in order to learn; they should be able to elaborate and explain clearly their understanding and ideas
  • Demonstrate they are competent in the arts of speaking and listening making formal presentations demonstrating to others and participating in debate.
