Who are we looking for

We are seeking a passionate individual who will be working across two suicide aftercare services the Suicide Prevention Service and the Way Back Support Service the Case Managers/Support Coordinators are responsible for providing nonclinical care and practical psychosocial support to individuals in the first three months following a suicide attempt or suicidal crisis.

The service is based in Adelaide Hills around Mt Barker.

What can you expect to be doing

  • Coordinate outreach/home visits to provide practical and emotional support
  • Provide connection and referral to appropriate support services
  • Building and maintaining community connections
  • Actively network with other relevant service providers
  • Assist clients and families in understanding suicidal behaviours
  • Develop clear goals with individuals and families and monitor achievements

What do you need to bring

  • Experience working with families and individuals affected by suicide is desirable however not mandatory
  • Experience in the mental health field or in case management
  • Effective communication skills and ability to engage with clients and families from a diverse range of backgrounds
  • Additional specialist training in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training(ASIST) acceptance and commitment therapy dialectical behaviour therapy motivational interviewing or cognitive behaviour therapy is highly desirable

Qualifications and Special Conditions required:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work
  • National Police History Check (NPC) / Working With Children Check (WWCC)
  • Australian Drivers licence
