Burlington School District is seeking a passionate and energetic Language Arts Teacher for the school year ofwho is committed to high levels of achievement of all students atEdmunds Middle School. This position requires teaming with other ELA teachers to plan curriculum as a professional learning community and to support students from diverse backgrounds improve their reading writing and communication skills.

Job Requirements:

  • Licensed or eligible for Vermont Educators License.
  • Endorsement in high school English or eligible for Vermont Provisional License.
  • Documented or eligible for NCLB Highly Qualified Teacher status.
  • Eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching at the middle school level.
  • Understanding of Cultural Competency (as explained through Essay 1 on SchoolSpring)
  • Knowledge of curriculum differentiated instruction and formative assessment.
  • Knowledge of best practices regarding frameworks of student behavioral support.

Preferred Attributes:

  • Training and experience with English Language Learners.
  • Familiarity with integrated technology as a learning tool.
  • Experience in a professional/teaching learning community or similar learning community.
  • Ongoing educational training.
