Snapon Elizabethton Tennessee is seeking a Engineering Technician to program and troubleshoot Swiss CNC machines.
Position Summary: Creates and optimizes CNC programs for Swissstyle turning machines ensuring precision and efficiency in the production of small complex responsibilities include interpreting blueprints selecting appropriate tooling setting up machines and troubleshooting programrelated issues. Provide manufacturing support by loading debugging and proving all new CNC programs.
Responsibilities
KEY TASKS
- Developing new CNC programs and refining existing ones for Swissstyle lathes.
- Choosing the correct tooling for specific machining operations considering material properties and desired surface finish.
- Preparing Swiss lathes for production including setting offsets loading stock and verifying tool positions.
- Identifying and resolving issues related to programming tooling or machine operation.
- Suggesting and implementing improvements to machining processes to reduce cycle time and improve tool life.
- Maintaining accurate records of programs setups and process changes.
- Working with engineering quality and production teams to ensure product manufacturability.
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS
- Proficiency in CNC programming languages (Gcode Mcode) and CAM software.
- Knowledge of Swissstyle turning machines and tooling.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T specifications.
- Understanding of machining processes material properties and tooling selection.
- Strong troubleshooting and problemsolving skills.
- Good communication and collaboration skills
- Knowledge of design and gauging practices.
- Training of operators as needed.
