We announce the following ADMINISTRATIVE vacancy in the Rochester Community Schools. Applications will be accepted until filled.

ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL

ADAMSHIGH SCHOOL

QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Masters Degree preferably in Educational Leadership School Administration or Curriculum.
  2. Valid State of Michigan teaching certificate preferably in Secondary Education.
  3. Michigan School Administrators certificate.
  4. Demonstrate and models professional demeanor resourcefulness and effective communication strategies with diverse groups.
  5. Strong knowledge base in cultural proficiency strategies and best practices.
  6. Successful instructional administrative experience.
  7. Three years successful secondary teaching experience.
  8. Ability to communicate effectively with staff and community.
  9. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. (For more information regarding position expectations refer to the Job Description below.)

COMPENSATION: $110073 TO $124481(Based on RAA Master Agreement) The successful candidate will be eligible for a comprehensive benefit package including Health Dental and Life Insurance paid holidays and sick days as well as any other applicable benefits per the Rochester Administrators Association Master Agreement. Work schedule221work days plus 12 paid holidays.

REPORTS TO:Building Principal

SUPERVISES:All professional and support personnel assigned to the building.

JOB GOAL: To assist the principal in using leadership supervisory and administrative skills in order to promote the educational development of each student.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Works to maintain an effective learning climate in the school.
  2. Enforces discipline as necessary in accordance with the Code of Responsible Behavior and Student Conduct incorporating restorative justice principals.
  3. Works cooperatively with various members of the Administration Center staff in addressing District problems relating to instruction transportation and special services.
  4. Recruits screens hires trains assigns and evaluates staff members assigned to the building.
  5. Functions as principal in the principals absence.
  6. Works with instructional staff to initiate design implement and evaluate instructional programs materials and strategies to meet assessed needs of students.
  7. Plans and supervises activities and programs which are outgrowths of the schools curriculum such as: sporting events plays concerts assemblies student council student driving and parking student fund raising student publications field trips and bus applications and interim reports.
  8. Supervises the maintenance of accurate records and reports to parents on the progress and attendance of students.
  9. Works to establish and maintain a favorable relationship with local community groups and individuals to foster understanding and solicit support for overall school objectives and programs and to interpret Board policies and administrative directives.
  10. Participates in building meetings and such other meetings as may be required by the District.
  11. Cooperates with college and university officials regarding teacher training and preparation.
  12. Works with the principal to establish a budget and to allocate financial resources.
  13. Acts as a liaison between the school and the community encouraging community participation in school activities.
  14. Keeps abreast of educational developments by attending conferences and workshops and by reading and discussing issues with colleagues.
  15. Motivates and assists staff in setting curriculum objectives.
  16. Acts as a liaison between district and police liaison and outside agencies (courts psychiatric hospitals etc.).
  17. Monitors the safety and administration of the school plant and grounds and responds to emergency situations requiring first aid etc.
  18. Prepares or supervises the preparation of building and District reports.
  19. Supervises the guidance program to enhance individual student education and development.
  20. Serves on standing and ad hoc building committees as needed.
  21. Conducts meetings of the staff as necessary for the proper functioning of the school and its programs.
  22. Supervises student lunchroom and hallways as necessary.
  23. Chairs the building team comprised of psychologist social worker learning consultant teacher consultant counselors nurse and speech pathologist.
  24. Offers guidance to employees who may be experiencing workrelated or personal problems that may affect job performance.
  25. Performs such other duties as assigned by the Superintendent/designee.
