Job Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Director of Pharmacy the Clinical Manager is delegated the responsibility accountability and authority to direct the clinical management of Pharmacy services.
Supports and is responsible for incorporating into job performance the Frederick Health (FH) mission vision core values and customer service philosophy and adheres to the FH Compliance Program including following all regulatory requirements and the FH Standards of Behavior.
Essential Functions:
In support of a pharmaceutical care model this position assesses and monitors drug therapy coordinates patient and staff education and develops drug and disease state treatment protocols.
The Clinical Manager leads pharmacy in designated area of clinical practice and serves as an expert and professional resource to service areas and the Pharmacy department staff.
S/he reviews and revises clinical service policies and procedures; is responsible for Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee activities and the Medication Use Evaluation program; monitors drug expense and implements therapeutic strategies to improve medication use and reduce costs.
S/he also trains educates monitors and evaluates clinical pharmacists and clinical pharmacist specialists.
The Clinical Manager also serves as the PGY1 residency program director in the health care system supported by the pharmacy department.
S/he assists in the development and implementation of the Pharmacys operational and strategic plans which are aligned with the strategic plan of the health system
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Outstanding oral and written communication skills. Must be able to work with others in a professional coaching manner. Knowledgeable and proficient in assessing the use and application of new technology including complex equipment and medication delivery systems. Problem solving and analytical thinking required.
Minimum Education Training and Experience Required:
Doctor of Pharmacy Degree is required.
Maryland Pharmacist license required OR eligibility to obtain licensure.
o Pharmacists pending Maryland licensure through reciprocation must obtain their Maryland Pharmacist License within 4 months of their date of hire.
o Pharmacists pending Maryland licensure must work under the supervision of a Maryland Licensed pharmacist and cannot perform pharmacist acts until licensed.
Clinical certification or PGY1 residency required.
Minimum 5 years clinical experience required. Previous supervisory or team leader experience preferred.
Experience with event reporting systems pharmacy operations medication management.
Joint commission experience a plus

Must demonstrate and maintain current knowledge and skills in providing appropriate care/contact for patients in the following age groups:
XNeonate (0 thru 30 days)
XInfant (31 thru 12 months)
XChild (13 months thru 12 years)
XAdolescent (13 years thru 17 years)
XAdult (18 years thru 65 years)
XGeriatric (66 years)
Physical Demands:
Light Work Lifting up to 20 pounds on an infrequent basis (less than one lift every three minutes and/or carrying up to 10 pounds or requiring walking or standing to a significant degree (about six 6 hours a day)
Ergonomic Risk Factors:
Repetition: Repeating the same motion repeatedly places stress on the muscles and tendons. The severity of risk depends on how often the action is repeated the speed of the movement the required force and muscles involved.

A. Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Risk: Category B MAY have exposure to blood or body fluids.

Pay is based on experience skills and education. If position is parttime salary will be prorated based on scheduled hours. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on specialty if applicable. NonExempt positions may have shift differential and/or Overtime paid if applicable.
Salary Range: $107889.60to$172640.00
