Job Description
Reports to: Principal
Duty Day:187 Days
Wage/Hour Status: Exempt
Pay Grade: I00 (Pay Based on Years of Experience

You just might be the person we are looking for if you have:
Bachelors degree from accredited university Masters preferred
Reading and/or math specialization preferred
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned
A minimum of four years of experience teaching reading/math preferred
Knowledge of reading and/or math intervention strategies
Ability to administer and interpret diagnostic reading/math assessment instruments
Strong organizational communication and interpersonal skills
Physically able to monitor student discipline and progress and meet other student needs as required
Physically able to move about the room to perform formative assessments and adequately facilitate small and large group instruction
The mission of this role:
Provide reading and/or math intervention to atrisk students.
Administer diagnostic assessments to identify specific instructional needs of atrisk students and develop and deliver reading/math intervention plans to accelerate reading/math growth for students who qualify for Atrisk according to the 13 state criteria.
What success looks like for this role:
- Provide reading/math intervention to atrisk students most at risk of failing to attain grade level expectations.
- Administer diagnostic reading/math instruments to students most at risk of reading/math failure.
- Interpret diagnostic reading/math instruments to determine specific instructional needs of atrisk students.
- Develop instructional plans to meet the individualized needs of identified atrisk students.
- Monitor reading/math progress of identified atrisk students.
- Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
- Assist classroom teachers in analyzing reading/math assessments and in designing and delivering reading/math interventions.
- Participate in collaborative committees to make instructional and placement decision for struggling atrisk students.
- Provide parent training on how to support childrens literacy and math development in the home.
- Attend ongoing staff development in the areas of reading/math intervention.
- Compile maintain and file all physical and computerized reports records and other documents as required.
- Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical social and emotional development of atrisk students.
- Manage student behavior and administer discipline according to board policies administrative regulations and IEPs.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect atrisk students equipment materials and Facilities.
- Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues students parents and community members.
- Use acceptable communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
- Demonstrate behavior that is professional ethical and responsible.
- Keep informed of and comply with state district and school regulations and policies for teachers.
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
- Articulate the districts mission and goals in areas of assigned responsibilities to the community and solicit its support in realizing the mission.
- Demonstrate the use of appropriate and effective techniques for community and parent involvement.

Workplace operational environment to include:
Standing for long periods of time. Frequent stooping bending pulling and pushing ie relocating stacks of textbooks media equipment desks and other classroom equipment. The level of mobility required depends upon the grade level of teaching assignment(s) and requirements thereof. Must maintain emotional control under stress.
