- This recruitment will establish an Eligibility List for the current Guidance Assistant vacancy shown belowas well as any future vacancies.This list will be active for three (3) months with the possibility to be extended.The Guidance Assistantassists in the school guidance program by providing individual and/or small group instruction to pupils; maintain manual or computerized records; assist school staff with pupil discipline problems; contact parents pupils and district staff.The followingGuidance Assistant openings are currently available:

This is apromotional/open opportunitywhich means that current monthlysalaried employees receive precedence over other candidates on the eligible list.- For a promotional/open posting the top ten internal applicants will be provided unless there is an insufficient number and then the list will be supplemented with the top external applicants to make up the ten (Employment Regulations for the Classified Service of the San Diego Unified School District: Article 2 Section 9).

Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination of training experience and/or education equivalent to one year of experience working with children in counseling or guidance services.LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid California drivers license and availability of private vehicle may be required for designated positions (mileage expense allowance provided). Personal appearance grooming and language pattern which will provide a satisfactory example to pupils.Supplemental Information

EXAMINATION PROCESS:
Only those candidates whose application demonstrates a combined education and experience which meets the minimum requirements for the position(s) will be considered qualified and advanced in the examination process.
All positions require qualified candidates to pass the examination process which may include one or more of the following components:- An application screening and evaluation based on the candidates education work history and responses to the supplemental questions.
