Job Description

Job Summary

Silicon Valley International School (INTL) is on the lookout for a highly dynamic and adaptable individual to join our team in a multifaceted role. This unique (requires being onsite) hybrid position requires someone who can seamlessly transition between several responsibilities demonstrating exceptional flexibility and the ability to thrive in diverse working environments. This individual will support students and staff across divisions from Preschool through High School. This role will be considered a yearround employee.

The successful candidate will be able to take on the role of a Mandarinspeaking Chinese as a Second Language (CSL) Teacher (30%) who will guide our preschool students in their language acquisition journey. The teacher will be responsible for fostering a love for the Chinese language and culture and adapting instructional strategies to meet the varying needs of young learners.

In addition to teaching this individual will also serve as the School Librarian (50%) managing the librarys resources to promote literacy and a passion for reading among students. This entails curating a diverse collection of books and materials organizing activities that encourage students to explore literature and assisting students in research and information literacy.

Moreover the role will include Administrative Support (20%) where responsibilities may involve coordinating schedules managing communications and assisting in the schools overall operations. Key Responsibilities

CSL Teacher (30%)

  • Provide CSL instruction and support primarily for Preschool students newer to Mandarin through engaging smallgroup or oneonone sessions.
  • SilCollaborate with Mandarin teachers to support student language acquisition and build foundational Mandarin skills.
  • Monitor and document student progress and adapt instruction accordingly.
  • Communicate and report student progress to families.
  • Complete other tasks as instructed by the supervisor.

Librarian (50%)

  • Oversee the daily operations of the school library.
  • Foster a love of reading and literature in students from Preschool through High School.
  • Support research and inquirybased learning across grade levels in alignment with the IB (PYP MYP and DP) framework.
  • Curate catalog and maintain library collections in both print and digital formats with a focus on inclusivity and representation.
  • Partner with faculty to plan and deliver library and research skills lessons appropriate to students developmental stages.

Administrative Support (20%)

  • Will support the Elementary School Principal with various administrative tasks including scheduling communications inventory and event logistics.
  • Help organize day overnight and international field trips
  • Create and manage all field trip forms
  • Support trip logistics (transport accommodation payments activities)
  • Assist with planning academic events as directed by the ES Principal
  • Research programs and info as requested by the ES Principal
  • Cover receptionist duties during lunch and absences

Position Requirements

  • Fluent in Mandarin Chinese and proficient in English.
  • Experience working with a range of student ages especially comfort with Preschool.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to collaborate across departments.
    Familiarity with bilingual education and inquirybased learning models such as the International Baccalaureate (IB) preferred.
  • Library experience and knowledge of cataloging systems (e.g. Follett Destiny) is a plus.
  • Highly organized and detailoriented with a growth mindset and willingness to take initiative.


Summer and Mini Camps

As this role is considered yearround the successful candidate will be required to work our Mini and Summer Camps. During summer care and minicamp our team is considered camp counselors. They are expected to plan and implement activities under the guidance and supervision of the Licensing and Enrichment Support Director who will provide a theme for the camps and help to organize planning. There will be time available the week before the minicamp for planning and preparation. Time will be given in the summer care schedule to allow for weekly planning and preparation.

Compensation and Benefits
Our compensation is based on educational attainment and years of experience. The salary range for this fulltime nonexempt hourly position for the 202526 school year is based on an annual amount of $63000 to $93000.

This position is categorized as an administrative staff member; we are therefore pleased to offer the following comprehensive benefits package which includes the following:

  • Paid Time Off equivalent to 6 weeks and Paid sick leave equivalent or ten (10) calendar days per fiscal year
