Job Description

HISD seeks a dynamic experienced educational leader to serve as the transformational turnaround principal for Hempstead Elementary School. This role requires a visionary to lead initiatives to create an inclusive innovative and studentcentered learning environment. The principal will be responsible for driving school improvement efforts enhancing student achievement and empowering faculty and staff through collaborative leadership. A strong commitment to datadriven decisionmaking and active engagement with the school community is essential for success. Key Responsibilities:

Transformational Leadership:

  • Develop and implement a vision for school transformation that aligns with district goals focusing on academic excellence.
  • Lead strategic initiatives to raise academic achievement and create a studentcentered environment that prioritizes holistic development and builds a culture of excellence and accountability for all.
  • Inspire and motivate staff students and the community to embrace change setting clear ambitious goals to drive continuous improvement.

Academic Program Development and Improvement:

  • Instructional Leader Observing instruction and providing impactful feedback to teachers.
  • Oversee the curriculum to ensure rigor relevance and alignment with state standards encouraging innovative teaching practices.
  • Utilize datadriven decisionmaking to identify trends in student achievement and create action plans that address performance gaps and improve student outcomes.
  • Partner with instructional staff to introduce and support effective teaching methods integrate technology and ensure that all students have the resources to succeed.
  • Ability to make and enforce difficult decisions.

Staff Management and Professional Development:

  • Lead a dynamic skilled team by recruiting developing and retaining highquality teachers and support staff committed to the schools transformation.
  • Implement a robust professional development plan that equips faculty with skills to support a growthoriented school culture and builds the professional capacity of all staff members.
  • Foster a collaborative accountable work environment where faculty are encouraged to innovate reflect and continuously improve their practice with a focus on results.

Community and Family Engagement:

  • Build strong relationships with parents community members and local organizations to garner support and create partnerships that benefit the school.
  • Engage families in the schools transformation process by facilitating open communication providing regular updates and inviting feedback.
  • Organize community events and opportunities that reinforce the schools mission promote transparency and strengthen community trust.

School Operations and Resource Management:

  • Oversee budgeting and resource allocation to ensure that funding is strategically aligned with the schools transformational goals.
  • Manage operational processes such as scheduling facilities upkeep and student behavior and services to support a conducive learning environment that is free from disruption.
  • Ensure compliance with district policies state regulations and safety protocols maintaining high standards for student and staff welfare.

Qualifications:

Education: Masters degree in Educational Leadership

Experience: A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in school leadership roles including a proven track record of successfully implementing schoolwide change or improvement preferred.

Certification: Texas certification as a School Administrator/Principal.

Skills: Strategic planning transformational leadership data analysis communication collaborative problemsolving and proficiency in educational technology.

Working Conditions: The School Principal will work in a school environment with some flexibility required for afterhours events school board meetings and community functions. This is a role for a proactive leader ready to make a measurable impact and champion the schools journey toward transformation.

Terms of Employment: 226 days; salary and work year to be established by the Board
