Reports To: Executive Director of Special Education
Location: Marysville School District: Early Learning Center
FLSA Status: Exempt
Salary: Administator Salary Schedule 1: Assitant Director Summary:
The Assistant Director of Special Education supports the development implementation and monitoring of special education services across the Marysville School District with a focus on early intervention compliance and equitable student support. This position directly oversees the Child Find process for Birth to 2 manages Medicaid reimbursement efforts and provides administrative supervision of the districts Early Learning Center. Working collaboratively with building leaders special education staff families and external partners the Assistant Director helps ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and promotes inclusive studentcentered practices. The positions work location is designated as the Early Learning Center as supervision of the program and staff are a key component of this position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervision of Early Learning Center
- Provide leadership and direct supervision of special education programming within the Early Learning Center.
- Support curriculum development instructional practices and inclusive strategies for preschoolaged students with disabilities.
- Supervise and evaluate assigned early learning staff including special education teachers paraeducators and related service providers.
- Ensure smooth transitions from early intervention services into preschool special education.
Child Find Coordination
- Oversee and manage the districts Child Find obligations for Part C to B in accordance with IDEA and state requirements.
- Ensure timely screening evaluation and identification of children who may be eligible for special education services.
- Collaborate with families early learning providers and community agencies to promote awareness and access to Child Find services.
- Maintain documentation timelines and reporting in compliance with OSPI guidelines.
Medicaid Reimbursement Oversight
- Coordinate and monitor the districts Medicaid Administrative Claiming and SchoolBased Services (SBS) reimbursement programs.
- Ensure accurate documentation coding and submission of services to maximize eligible reimbursements.
- Provide training and support to staff on Medicaid billing procedures and compliance.
- Serve as the liaison between the district OSPI and thirdparty Medicaid billing providers.
Program Administration & Compliance
- Assist in the development and monitoring of IEP processes timelines and service delivery models across the district
- Collaborate with school administrators and multidisciplinary teams to ensure appropriate placement services and supports for students with disabilities.
- Support professional development for staff related to IDEA Section 504 and inclusive practices.
- Participate in state and local audits compliance reviews and program evaluations.
- Serve as a resource for problemsolving dispute resolution and parent engagement efforts.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Degree/Washington State Certification in Special Education Educational Leadership or related field.
- Valid Washington State Administrative Certificate (or eligibility).
- Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with Special Education endorsement preferred.
- Minimum of five years of experience in special education including leadership or coordination roles.
- Knowledge of federal and state special education laws and best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate across departments and with families and community partners.

Working Conditions:
- District office and schoolbased environments.
- Occasional evening or weekend meetings may be required.
- Requires travel between district sites and to regional/state meetings as needed.
Evaluation:
The Assistant Director of Special Education will be evaluated annually by the Executive Director of Special Education in accordance with district policy and established administrative evaluation procedures.
