Job Description
The Pharmacy Technician Coordinator reports directly to the Director of Pharmacy Programs and participates in the administration of programs designed to optimize utilization of targeted drugs and assist with pharmacy costsaving initiatives. This role reviews prior authorization requests verifying benefits and ensures appropriate use of drugs based on established guidelines and policies. Acts as a liaison between various internal and external stakeholders. Assists healthcare professionals in navigating prior authorizations insurance approvals and other processes to ensure timely patient access to necessary medications. Performs all Pharmacy Technician duties and projects as assigned by the Director of Pharmacy Programs.
As a Pharmacy Technician perform the following nonjudgmental duties involved in working in a retail environment under the direct supervision of the Pharmacist: obtaining patient information specific to creating an electronic patient profile obtain prescription insurance information and accurately enter it in the pharmacy system check that information on a prescription is complete and legible at the time of dropoff retrieve the correct medication from inventory stock/order/update inventory according to established process prepare medical insurance claims direct clinical patient questions to the pharmacist for consultation properly and accurately ring out the patient inform Pharmacist when there is a new prescription being picked up which requires consultation and other tasks as assigned by the PharmacistinCharge or PharmacistonDuty.

Required Skills
- Proficient level of computer verbal/written communications and ability to prioritize.
- Possess a solid understanding of pharmacy operations and insurance procedures.
- Effectively read write and speak English fluently.
- Able to adapt to Pharmacy needs and possess excellent organization skills.
- Able to perform pharmaceutical calculations accurately and independently.
- Knowledge of medical and pharmaceutical terminology.
