General Description
Watertown Public Schools seeks an exceptional Special Education elementary teacherwith an SEI endorsement who is highly qualified and knowledgeable to join our community of teachers learners and leaders. This is an exciting opportunity for teachers who desire to serve where their efforts matter.
Responsibilities
- Teach content and skills in English language literature composition and reading using standardsbased curriculum guidelines from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education that correlate with appropriate learning activities and district standards to our K1 students.
- Adapt district curriculum materials and methods to develop relevant sequential assignments that guide and challenge students.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress and record student outcomes
- Design and carry out developmentally appropriate motivating curriculum/programming as required by IEP goals/MA curriculum frameworks
- Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students varying needs
- Create an environment that is positive for student learning and involvement
- Maintain appropriate standards of behavior mutual respect and safety
- Collect analyze and maintain behavioral data on all students
- Demonstrated ability in maintaining effective communication with administration parents counselors and related service providers

- The special education teacher is responsible for the daytoday classroom management and provision of instruction including the development and implementation of the Individual Education Program (IEP) goals assessment and curriculum design at the Lowell Elementary ISP Program. The ISP Program is a specialized special education program that services students with social/emotional disabilities.

Qualifications Required
- Education: Hold a Bachelors degree.
- Hold a Special Education License in Moderate Disabilities
- Meet all state and federal guidelines to be fully licensed and Highly Qualified.
- Ability to meet the Standards of Effective Teaching established by the Massachusetts Model System for Educators as outlined above.
- Current authorization to work in the United States Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Valid Massachusetts DESE licensure as a Teacher of Moderate or Severe Disabilities required
- Experience working with students with social/emotional disabilities
- Skilled in behavior management
- Citizenship residency or work VISA in the United States required
