Job Description

BoysAssistant Soccer Coach

The Guadalupe Centers Charter Schools serve 1600 students from PreK12 and is a free openenrollment public charter school. Over 92% of our students are Latinx. Our school system consists of Guadalupe Centers High School Guadalupe Centers Middle School and Guadalupe Centers Elementary School. Our system grew out of Guadalupe Centers educational programming. Guadalupe Centers is the longest continuously operating agency serving the Latinx community in the US since 1919. Our roots in our community run deep.

Summary:

The Assistant Coach supports the Head Coach in all aspects of the soccer program including training player development game preparation and fostering a positive team culture. The ideal candidate demonstrates a commitment to studentathlete success on and off the field and adheres to the guidelines of the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) and district policies.

Reports To: Athletic Director Principal & Vice Principal

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head Coach with planning and conducting practices drills and game strategies.
  • Support the development of individual players skills fitness and teamwork.
  • Promote good sportsmanship discipline and character among studentathletes.
  • Help supervise studentathletes during practices games travel and team functions.
  • Maintain positive communication with players coaching staff parents and school personnel.
  • Assist in tracking studentathlete academic eligibility and behavior in coordination with school policies.
  • Aid in equipment management setup and breakdown for games/practices and facility care.
  • Attend all scheduled games practices meetings and professional development sessions.
  • Enforce MSHSAA regulations school district policies and safety protocols.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required; a college degree is preferred.

  • Prior coaching or playing experience in soccer preferred (youth club or high school level nonHardship Coach for a minimum of TWO school years)

  • Must meet MSHSAA coaching certification requirements including:

    • NFHS Coaching Education Program

    • Concussion Education

    • CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain)

  • Strong interpersonal leadership and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with the Head Coach and athletic department.

  • Ability to serve as a role model for high school studentathletes.

  • Must pass background check and all districtrequired clearances.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to traverse various athletic grounds and facilities.
  • Prolonged periods of standing or walking.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds at a time.
