CORE JOB SUMMARY
The Asst. VP Talent Acquisition (H) leads the University of Miami and the University of Miami Health Systems talent acquisition strategy for all stafflevel positions. This role designs develops and implements both shortand longterm strategies to support the Universitys growth objectives through expansion of talent pipelines digital innovation promotion of the Universitys employer brand and by providing a bestinclass candidate experience. The role serves as a strategic business partner to department leaders as they engage in the workforce planning process by helping them understand the current labor market and foreseeable shifts and different talent models.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Oversees and directs the talent acquisition strategy for the University of Miami and the University of Miami Health System that is tailored to the unique aspects of academia and healthcare respectively.
2. Leads the Talent Acquisition and the HR Support Services Onboarding teams.
3. Collaborates with hiring leaders across the University to understand their talent needs and create targeted recruitment activities.
4. Develops and executes an employer brand strategy in partnership with Marketing that communicates an employee value proposition that aligns to the Universitys culture reputation vision and mission.
5. Researches and implements best practices in talent acquisition and onboarding and designs a strategy that supports the Universitys shortand longterm objectives.
6. Creates an onboarding experience for new hires which welcomes them into the University and supports them through their first year of employment to improve retention and engagement.
7. Leads the talent acquisition team by mentoring staff monitoring performance implementing KPIs and looking for ways to continuously improve the candidate and new hire experience.
8. Utilizes data and analytics to create metrics to assist leaders with workforce planning.
9. Monitors market trends to adjust recruitment strategies as needed and to foresee and plan for potential labor shortages new certification or licensing requirements and shifts in compensation expectations.
10. Researches and implements new technology to reduce time to hire and time to start through access new to candidate pools increased ability to communicate with candidates in specific locales and streamlined applications and background screening.
11. Reduces the use of contract labor and search firms through targeted recruitment efforts for difficult to fill and key leadership positions.
12. Collaborates with other areas of Human Resources to provide clients with a comprehensive approach to their talent needs.
13. Manages the departments budget in a fiscally responsible manner to ensure resources are allocated to strategies/initiatives/vendors that have a proven return on investment.
14. Reviews the hiring practices across the University to ensure compliance with policies and procedures and any applicable laws and regulations.
15. Ensures internal control oversight and compliance with laws and regulations safeguarding of assets compliance with University policies and procedures reliability of internal and external reporting and efficiency and effectiveness of operations. Creates an effective control environment conducts risk assessment implements and monitors controls.

Education:
Bachelors degree in relevant field required
Experience:
Minimum 8 years of relevant experience required
