Visiting Assistant Professor of BIOLOGY
The Biology Department at Pomona College is seeking applications for a one year Visiting Assistant Professor position in Biology beginning fall 2025. The successful candidate will teach an upperlevel elective course with lab in the fall semester and an Introductory Cell Biology course with lab in the spring semester and another course to be determined. The department can provide support for
visiting
faculty members pursuit of independent research especially if that research is in collaboration with undergraduate students at Pomona College and the Claremont Colleges.
Pomona College and the Biology Department support equal access to higher education. Pomona College founding member of the Claremont Colleges is a highly selective coeducational liberal arts college located 35 miles east of Los Angeles. Of the students admitted into the class of 2024 58.8% selfidentify as domestic students of color 13.6% international and 20.7% are first generation college students. The successful candidate will have the ability to teach and mentor exceptional students of diverse backgroundsutilizing pedagogical practices that are rigorous inclusive and which promote academic equity.
Candidates should submit a dossier (one pdf 5MB) including: 1) a cover letter that includes a statement of research interests 2) curriculum vitae 3) a statement of teaching philosophy including descriptions of courses taught and 4) a statement providing examples of inclusive teaching and undergraduate student mentoring. This position is not eligible for travel and moving expenses. Employment is contingent upon providing proof of the legal right to work in the United States as required by the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 for the duration of the contract July 1 2025 until June 30 2026.
