A role in Buying means working with several diverse vendors to choose the best product mix both instore and online. We help determine where to localize while calibrating market positioning and acting as brand managers. Here youll own a wide SKU count so that your work is varied and challenging. Through crossfunctional collaboration instinct and creativity you will be the expert on the guest the market and the competition.
A Buyer helps create omnichannel growth by planning profitable and locally relevant assortments using your grasp of guest shopping behavior assortment requirements and competitors. You will influence and negotiate with vendors to achieve results and identify gaps and opportunities. Your flexibility in reacting to business results and your ability to translate financial metrics and data into actionable strategies will be critical. You will lead crossfunctional teams to drive category results while managing progress toward sales and margin goals. Your partnerships with product designers and/or category managers and vendors will help guide product development as you source appropriately for your category. You will interact with Associate Buyers Senior Merchandise Specialists the Pricing and Promotion Center of Excellence Planning Site Merchandising the Item Center of Excellence and many other expert partners in support of your promotional planning work across channels.
This Buyer role is specifically focused on the fresh produce industry handling a diverse range of vegetable categories. Given the breadth of commodities with differing supply chains this role is oriented towards supply chain management logistics and negotiations. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to putting the customer first demonstrating curiosity and accountability in every aspect of their work. You will not only have a keen interest in merchandising but also in understanding how products get to market efficiently and effectively.
In this role you will work closely with vendors building and maintaining strong relationships while holding them accountable for delivering results. Your ability to solve crossfunctional problems and collaborate effectively will be crucial in ensuring that our fresh produce offerings meet the highest standards. Key Responsibilities:
Understand the External Environment: Stay updated on consumer trends competition and the supply landscape.
Develop Category Strategies: Create and implement strategies for various vegetable categories.
Manage Vendor Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships negotiate terms and collaborate on product development.
Oversee Assortment Planning: Manage product segmentation visual planning and owned brand development.
Collaborate CrossFunctionally: Work with vendors logistics quality assurance and store execution teams to ensure smooth operations.
Optimize Inventory Flow: Ensure efficient inventory turns and maintain product freshness.
Demonstrate Key Skills: Exhibit leadership drive and accountability critical thinking and curiosity.
About You:
Fouryear degree or equivalent experience
1 years of Merchandising experience
Strong strategic and analytical skills to grow a business Strong collaboration skills to partner with Cross Functional Teams
Flexibility resilience and comfort working in grey areas that are constantly changing

This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Targets needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team members core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually depending upon what your role team and tasks require for that day.
