Odyssey Collaborative Trust are looking to appoint an Apprentice Early Years Teaching Assistant at Cherry Tree Hill Primary School. We have an exciting opportunity at Cherry Tree Hill Primary School for an Apprentice to complete a recognised Early Years Educator Level 3 Qualification whilst also securing experience in working within a school nursery environment having a real impact on childrens lives.
About the employer
Our school is a large primary (3 11 years old) set in spacious grounds two miles from Derby City Centre. Visitors to our school comment positively on our facilities and the stimulating environment. We have a large Nursery setting with three classes of Reception to Year Six.
About the Role

- Hours: Monday to Friday 8.30m to 4pm (4.30pm on Wednesdays) 35 hours per week Termtime only
- Wage: 7.55 per hour

Overview of the role:
Working as an Early Years Educator apprentice you will provide support to teachers in preparing for group sessions and helping to create a safe and enjoyable learning environment for all children. During the day youll work together with the class teacher and other teaching assistants to support children in becoming independent learners. Excellent communication and enthusiasm will be key in supporting all children to progress achieve and overcome any problems. You will support all areas of the curriculum and act as a role model for children which will enable you to have a positive influence on their behaviour and performance at school.
Key responsibilities:
- Supervise and support children to ensure their safety and access to learning opportunities
- Encourage children to become confident and independent learners
- Prepare classroom and outdoor areas to create engaging learning environments
- Support teaching staff in managing pupil behaviour and report any difficulties appropriately
- Assist children in understanding lesson instructions and tasks
- Support children with the school curriculum as directed by teaching staff
- Supervise children during playtimes and lunchtimes to promote safe and positive experiences
- Accompany teaching staff and children on visits trips and other outofschool activities when appropriate
- Follow all policies and procedures relating to child protection equality and diversity health and safety confidentiality and data protection reporting concerns to the appropriate person
- Provide personal care support to pupils where necessary
- Assist in preparing resources completing classroom paperwork and contributing to school or class displays

Qualifications Required:
