Recreational Program Coordinator Competition #2025041

Category: FullTime Term

Position Summary

Under the direction of the EAGLE Urban Transition Centres Program Manager the incumbent will assist with coordinating and providing support for the daytoday onsite activities for the youth participants of the Eagles Nest First Nations Youth Program following the cultural Medicine Wheel concept. The goal of the Eagles Nest Program is to provide 60 First Nation youth between he ages of 16 to 30 with training in areas of physical mental spiritual and emotional skills and wellbeing. This position is designed for a postsecondary student returning to school in September 2025.

Key Responsibilities

  • Daily skill development activities in the following areas:
    • Literacy building group reading (reviews internet research daily journaling meal preparation and nutritional values of food computer literacy internet and wordprocessing community and education resource awareness and volunteerism)
  • Help encourage youth to develop selfconfidence selfesteem and pride building through social skills and strategies development communication written oral and presentation skills personal portfolio development and personal action planning.
  • Assist with activities facilitated by staff workshop facilitators and/or community volunteers who can provide teaching or support from the fields of education health life skills First Nation culture economics politics employment training and recreation.
  • Supports include provision of employment references personal and family advising through site home or coffee making visits employment counselling mentorship opportunities and volunteer opportunities.
  • Transitional plan goal setting and counseling youth for employment secondary or postsecondary schooling.

Qualifications: Education & Experience

  • Must be a postsecondary student returning to school in September 2025.
  • Experience working with First Nations youth an asset.
  • Knowledge of challenges and issues facing First Nation youth and resulting strategies.
  • Excellent written presentation and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Outlook.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to problemsolve and deal effectively with conflict.
  • Valid Class 5F Drivers License and reliable vehicle considered an asset.
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide a Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check.
