Job Description
The role
As Senior Manager of the Transactions Practice Stream at Clayton Utz you will play a critically important frontline role with one of Australias leading law firms.
In your role you will oversee the strategic development and management of the Firms key initiatives relating to the Transactions Stream including the Corporate M&A and Capital Markets Tax Banking & Financial Services Restructuring & Insolvency Technology and Pro Bono practice groups. This role will work closely with the Senior Managers who lead the Projects Advisory Risk & Regulatory and Dispute Resolution Streams and report directly to the Director of Clients and Markets.
Key responsibilities:
In this position you will have the opportunity to work alongside industry leading partners to set and implement the strategic direction of the practice stream. Working with domestic and international clients and across legal matters that help shape the Australian legal landscape this highly sought after role will provide the variety and challenge you seek to further develop your strategic business development skills.
You will be involved with:
- Leading a dedicated team of Practicespecific Managers (Corporate M&A and Capital Markets Tax Banking & Financial Services Restructuring & Insolvency Technology and Pro Bono) as well as a crosspractice team of Advisers and Coordinators sitting within the Transactions Stream to proactively manage the Streams strategic objectives;
- Identifying client/new work opportunities emerging products and service areas and market development opportunities within and across the Firms four practice streams and working with senior stakeholders to pursue these;
- Identifying planning and executing marketleading client engagement opportunities;
- Providing a source of market/industry insight to key stakeholders being responsible for a number of industry focussed business development initiatives;
- Working with the wider team to implement the firmsStrategy;
- Mentoring and leading team members;
- Working on other business critical projects across the business; and
- Communicating the vision and purpose of C&M within the firm to heighten its understanding of the role of C&M as trusted advisers.
Skills & Experience
As the successful candidate you will have:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications (either business/legal/finance) coupled with legal/client development experience gained ideally from a professional services environment;
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and proactively;
- Excellent stakeholder management skills the ability to influence persuade and negotiate;
- Strong project management skills and a proactive and pragmatic style;
- Proven leadership skills;
- People/team management; and
- Resilience and selfmotivation able to work autonomously with a large degree of flexibility and adaptability.
