About You
Your Widening Participation experience will contribute to the success of working collaboratively in a small team & across teams to support the development & delivery of the I Belong equity outreach program.
I Belong isRMITs approach to inspiring and building tertiary engagement for secondary school applied learning programs give selected SNAP (Schools Network Access Program) school students the opportunity to explore a university campus and discover what future is possible through tertiary study.
You will be involved in developing coordinating and implementing the successful delivery of disciplinespecific programs for students from SNAP Schools as well as workshops on aspiration building pathway exploration and discipline tasters.
The position works closely with internal stakeholders in RMIT portfolios Colleges and Schools including the Ngarara Willim Centre for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Students. External partners include over 200 Victorian secondary schools in the RMIT SNAP Partnership.
Limited out of hours work and travel is required.
To be successful in this position you will have as a minimum:
Demonstrated understanding of community diversity with the proven capacity to draw upon related skills and expertise to deliver equity programs that are targeted and responsive.
Proven planning organisational event and project management skills.
Demonstrated ability to maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders and partners to achieve defined outcomes.
Effective communication skills including experience in public speaking and the proven ability to liaise at all levels with a culturally diverse group of people.
Capacity to work independently as well as collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams in a large organisation including strong problemsolving skills to achieve identified outcomes.
Please Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children and National Police Check.
About the Portfolio
The Education Portfolio is headed by the Deputy ViceChancellor Education and Vice President who leads the planning and implementation of the Universitys strategies related to RMITs academic programs and the RMIT student experience.
The Portfolio is responsible for services to support the quality of RMIT programs including the professional development of academic staff continuous improvement of the student experience learning and teaching outcomes and the management of learning and research information sources.
The Education Portfolio plays a key role in empowering students to access education participate actively in the life of the University and achieve successful and fulfilling lives beyond graduation. The provision of a stimulating and satisfying experience for students is a priority for the University.
