About the Role:

Melba Support Services are seeking an experienced Disability Support Worker to join a Supported Independent Living home in Sale Victoria on a permanent parttime basis.

This is a dynamic sleepover model home supporting 5 adults with high support needs on a rotating fortnightly roster and a stafftoresident ration of three. Each individual in this home has their own unique personality preferences and care needs were looking for adaptable resilient team members committed to supporting them to lead fulfilling independent lives.

The people living in this home require specialised support including manual handling Stoma care epilepsy management and mealtime assistance. Some individuals also present behaviours of concern which makes this a challenging yet deeply rewarding role.

These individuals enjoy a range of activities from community outings like swimming walks and theatre shows to spending time with family and gardening. Community engagement is central to their lives and you will play an important part in ensuring they continue to access and enjoy these opportunities.

Were seeking someone who can provide both highquality practical support and meaningful connectionsomeone who contributes to a positive personcentred environment that fosters growth autonomy and joy.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement support plans based on supported persons needs preferences and interests
  • Help with all aspects of daily living from getting up in the morning to going to bed at night
  • Aid people to get to their chosen activities like social events work and appointments
  • Promote personal choice and control for the person
  • Assist with personal care hygiene and household duties such as cleaning cooking and washing
  • Administer medication

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Cert 4 of Disability or equivalent qualification (Highly advantageous)
  • Experience with complex behaviours
  • Experience with psychosocial and neurological disabilities preferred
  • Experience with manual handling
  • A passion for enabling and working with people
  • Desire for meaningful work and comfortable providing people with daily living support
  • Willingness to learn new skills undertake ongoing training
  • Willingness to work as part of a team

You will also bring with you or be willing to obtain*:

  • NDIS Worker screening Check
  • Working with Children Check
  • Unrestricted Australian Drivers License
  • Evidence of COVID19 vaccination status including booster
  • Current First Aid Certificate with CPR
