Job Description
The Food Service Assistant Iworks as part of a team during the school year to complete the daytoday tasks associated with providing Nutrition Service to an assigned school population.
Daytoday tasks include but are not limited to:
- Assist in providing nutritious appealing meals to student and staff
- Cleaning and maintaining kitchen and serving areas in a sanitary safe and orderly condition
- Effectively plan daily work and complete work in a timely and efficient manner
- Fill in at any kitchen for vacancies as needed
- Food preparation repackaging and serving store and care for food and supplies
- Knowledge of kitchen equipment
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures
- Maintain accurate accountability and implement Nutrition Service Department goals as directed by Nutrition Service Director
- Operate computer Google Suite and calculator to receive department monies and keep accurate accounts and records
- Participate in department meeting and education programs
Our ideal candidate has:
- Prior food service experience preferred
- Ability to work with staff students and parents
- Ability to read and write correspondence memos and instructions
- Ability to stand/walk entire shift on cementor quarry tile floors
- Ability to regularly lift 40 lbs
- Ability to push and pull carts weighing up to 100 lbs
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures
- Knowledge of kitchen equipment
- Knowledge and ability to use computer preferably Google Suite
- Work effectively in stressful situations
- Use full range of motion at a standard height working table dishwasher sink or service counter including bending and reaching
Minimum Requirements
- 18 years or older
- Valid Food Handlers Certificate (OAR 333.175.000) or ServeSafe Certification must be obtained and maintained.
Up to 6.5 hour per day position with a 185day work schedule for 2025/26 starting 8/25/2025 school year.
Please note that the listed salary range applies to the 2024/25 school year and is subject to change as we are still in negotiations for a successor contract.
