PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Director of Technology is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of technology within the school division including developing and implementing technology plans overseeing infrastructure and supporting staff and students.

DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

  • Responsible for maintaining technology operations including systems administration network management telecommunications management system and data security system and data backup and emergency recovery plans
  • Plan for establish and maintain the districtwide database systems. Responsible for ensuring data integrity and assisting staff in data access and utilization
  • Provide leadership in identifying hardware and software needs and purchases ensuring they are consistent with the school systems instructional technology plan and state technology guidelines
  • Use the state and local technology plans to establish standards for purchasing equipment software related media and supplies for instructional technology integration and management activities according to the local purchasing guidelines
  • Supervise the systemwide inventory of technology assets
  • Direct the development and delivery of technology training for using administrative and instructional systems collaboratively with the Curriculum and Instruction team
  • Work with all other instructional administrative staff including schoolbased administrators to implement and support instructional technology initiatives
  • Coordinate staff development in technology competencies for District staff at all levels
  • Advise the District leadership on the financial implications of the technology program
  • Administer programs within approved budget parameters including financial technology and staff (FTE) resource allocation
  • Exercise overall leadership for federal state and private source grants to support technology and telecommunications operations enhancement and support activities
  • Establish a system of data collection and analysis that provides for continuous improvement of program effectiveness and/or changing needs
  • Oversee security of systems networks and enterprise information; facilitate IT security audits or investigations
  • Demonstrate the ability to give presentations before large groups of people
  • Demonstrate an ability to maintain an unquestionable degree of confidentiality
  • Demonstrate the ability to multitask work with interruptions and work under pressure
  • Demonstrate ability to be dependable punctual and complete tasks without direct supervision
  • Possess knowledge of Google Workspace (Docs Sheets Slides Drive Gmail Calendar etc.)
  • Demonstrate proficient use of cloudbased collaboration tools learning management systems and mobile devices to support instructional or operational needs

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Hold a Bachelors degree in education human services or a related field
  • Hold or be eligible to hold a Virginia Teachers License
  • Possess superlative leadership abilities
  • Have experience with shared decisionmaking and collaborative leadership
  • Have experience in successfully implementing schoolwide programs
  • Display a proven track record of contributing to work that improves student achievement and outcomes

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Hold or be eligible to hold a Virginia license with an endorsement in Administration and Supervision of PreK12
  • Hold a Masters degree or a doctorate degree from an accredited graduate school
  • Have experience in the public school environment in teaching or supervising
  • Possess principal or central office leadership experience

FLSA: Exempt

SALARY: $98582.54 $177588.94 annually with benefits commensurate with experience (current salary scale may change due to budget considerations)
