Primary Purpose:
To support the implementation compliance and effectiveness of special education programs across the district. The Special Education Coordinator will assist campuses in ensuring the provision of appropriate services to students with disabilities in accordance with federal state and local regulations

- Masters degree in Special Education or related field (required)
- Educational Diagnostician certification (preferred)
Special Knowledge / Skills:
- Experience with all aspects of the special education programs (e.g. working knowledge of all disabilities; ARD committee meeting rules and regulations)
- Ability to analyze data identify areas of need and support improvement efforts
- Proficiency with special education systems such as eSped/frontline
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fastpaced environment
- Collaborative approach to problemsolving and team support
- Ability to effectively communicate with teachers administrative staff parents and students
- Strong organizational interpersonal and communication skills
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of successful experience in special education
- Experience with all aspects of the special education programs (e.g. working knowledge of all disabilities; ARD committee meeting rules and regulations)
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Monitor compliance with IDEA and state regulations related to special education services.
- Provide direct support to campus administrators ARD facilitators and special education teachers to ensure quality instruction and compliant IEP implementation.
- Facilitate and monitor the ARD/IEP process to ensure accurate paperwork timelines and service delivery.
- Support campuses in conducting student evaluations FIEs and the development of individualized education programs.
- Assist with planning and placement decisions for students including least restrictive environment (LRE) considerations.
- Oversee assigned areas such as related services transition assistive technology or compliance depending on departmental needs.
- Provide professional development and ongoing training to staff on special education law instructional strategies documentation and other relevant topics.
- Participate in monitoring audits and state reporting processes (e.g. SPP indicators TEA corrective actions).
- Review and assist in resolving parent concerns or complaints related to special education services.
- Collaborate with campus and district personnel to support inclusive practices and student success.
- Verify accuracy of PEIMS reports.
- Coordinate and arrange the special education software management system training for new and current users.
- Implement the policies established by federal and state law State Board of Education rule and local board policy in the area of special education.
- Coordinate the compilation maintenance and filing of all physical and computerized reports records and other documents required.
- Coordinate a current inventory of district supplies and equipment and recommend the replacement and disposal of equipment when necessary.
- Articulate the districts mission and goals in the area of special education to the community and solicit its support in realizing the mission.
- Demonstrate awareness of districtcommunity needs and initiate activities to meet those needs.
- Use appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement.
