NOTES:
The work schedule for this position is Monday Friday 6:00 am to 2:30 pm 7:00 am to 3:30 pm or 8:30 am to 5:00 pm with a possible rotation between the schedules. The schedule will be determined by the supervisor to meet the operational needs of the department.
The list of eligible candidates resulting from this recruitment may be used to fill additional vacancies that may occur in the next six (6) months.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform a variety of routine maintenance tasks and manual labor primarily in a nonindustrial type of facility.
JOB SUMMARY:
Depending on the location the major job responsibilities may include the duties listed below. For more detailed information please review the job description.
Perform building maintenance and custodial duties.
Move supplies office furniture partitions and stock room items.
Perform a wide variety of general building maintenance and routine stock room tasks.
Perform vehicle maintenance such as inspection of batteries and fluid levels.
Inspect inflate change and repair tires.
Complete update and maintain vehicle service and repair logs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
All applicants must possess a valid California Class C driver license
AND
For General Services Worker II: One (1) year of experience as a General Services Worker I
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate has experience in:
Building maintenance including plumbing office modification and repair
Fleet vehicle maintenance including minor repairs and safety inspections
EXAMPLES OF ASSESSMENT CRITERIA
The selection process may cover:
Knowledge of:
Stock handling practices
Basic concepts of equipment maintenance and repairs
Basic equipment and materials used in mechanical maintenance
Uses of basic hand and power tools
Basic safety considerations of mechanical maintenance work
Basic automotive servicing including fueling checking batteries and oil and changing tires
Safe driving practices and traffic laws
Ability to:
Lift and handle bulky items
Learn to use hand and power tools used to perform basic maintenance and mechanical adjustments
Utilize a computer and related equipment to maintain records create work orders procure merchandise and perform other stockroom duties
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Selection Process:
All applications will be reviewed to determine if the conditions and qualifications for testing are met.
The selection process will consist of a written test weighted at 50% and an interview weighted at 50%.
Candidates must receive a qualifying score on each selection component to move forward in the selection process.
The written exam is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday June 10 2025.
The individual(s) recommended for hire must undergo a jobrelated preemployment physical as well as a reference check background check DMV report and a drug test.
