Job Description

Hours: FullTime Position 35 Hours
Work Location: 3030 Thomson Avenue LIC NY 11101

The NYC Department of Design and Construction (DDC) seeks a Deputy General Counsel to provide legal advice and counsel to DDCs General Counsel and Senior leadership team with a focus on Alternative Project Delivery including but not limited to Design Build Progressive Design Build and various forms of CM/Build contracts. The selected candidate will also handle transactional matters related to design and construction and general legal issues related to procurement and construction law including all City State and Federal regulations concerning matters impacting procurement and administration of construction projects. The candidate will have experience in (i) procurement law and construction law with specific experience in alternate project delivery methods; (ii) procurement of design professionals and construction contractors; and (iii) contract administration issues including claims analysis delay claims analysis review of potential change orders and closeout of contracts. This position also includes litigation support for commercial tort and affirmative cases related to Alternative Project Delivery as well as administrative matters involving Comptroller claims and the CDRB among other types of claim and litigation related matters. The selected candidate may also be expected to assist with any other types of assignments and projects needed. The candidate will handle their own workload in addition to supervising various employees day to day as well as supervising work on matters related to specific projects.

Qualifications :

Admission to the New York State Bar; and four years of recent fulltime responsible relevant satisfactory legal experience subsequent to admission to any bar eighteen months of which must have been in the supervision of other attorneys in an administrative managerial or executive capacity or performing highly complex and significant legal work.

Incumbents must remain Members of the New York State Bar in good standing for the duration of this employment.
