ROLE SUMMARY

Greater Glasgow and Clyde NHS Board is looking for two new members to join its Board. Applications are invited from people who have an interest in public service and are committed to the NHS in Scotland.

The Health Boards role is to improve the health and wellbeing of the people of Greater Glasgow and Clyde and to deliver high quality personcentred care. In doing so NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde provides a comprehensive range of primary communitybased and acute and psychiatric hospital services for the population.

This is an exciting time to join NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. The Board is committed to making sustainable improvements in capacity and delivery across the system launching a bold systemwide improvement programme to transform unscheduled and planned care whilst providing access to the right care in the right place at the right time. As a nonexecutive member of the Board you will be expected to play a central role in ensuring the efficient effective and accountable governance of the organisation including participation in its governance committees. You will be offered the training you need to make a strong contribution.



Responsibilities
RESPONSIBILITIES

Public Appointees are responsible for:
  • ensuring that the public body delivers its functions in accordance with Scottish Ministers policies and priorities
  • providing strategic leadership
  • ensuring financial stewardship
  • holding the Chief Executive and senior management team to account

Qualifications
ROLE CRITERIA

You must be able to demonstrate the following essential criteria:
  1. Ability to challenge and influence effectively
  2. Analysis and decision making skills (assessed via practical exercise at final assessment stage)
  3. Communication skills (assessed throughout the selection process)
  4. Appreciation of NHS Scotlands shared values (assessed throughout the selection process)

There is also a desirable criterion for one role only which would be beneficial to the Board but is not essential:

  1. Experience in management or oversight of complex estates and facilities management services or systems or commissioning decommissioning or review of large scale construction projects or property portfolios

A fee of 14352 (nonpensionable) per annum. You will also receive reimbursement for all reasonable expenses.

A commitment of one day per week (52 days per year) is expected. This commitment will vary week to week but you must be able to make a firm commitment to spend 52 days of the year on Board business.
