Job Description

  • Build and maintain trust and effective working relationships with the Participant Panel leadership and members valuing and being sensitive to their lived experiences and the critical perspectives they bring to Genomics Englands work.
  • Organise quarterly Participant Panel meetings working with the relevant Genomics England colleagues and the Participant Panel leadership to set agendas and to meet agreed standards for prereads minute taking and action tracking.
  • Maintain effective relationships with Genomics England colleagues to identify when and how the Participant Panel should be involved to ensure the Panel can bring the participant perspective to decisions about the approach Genomics England takes to fulfilling its role as custodian of participants data In the National Genomic Research library. 
  • Maintain the Participant Panel content on the Genomics England website and on its intranet and assist with making public the activity of Genomics England in relation to the Participant Panel.
  • Manage recruitment to Participant Panel members and leadership roles working with Genomics England and Participant Panel members to ensure that recruitment processes are fair and inclusive. 
  • Oversee the effective governance of the Participant Panel in line with wider Genomics England procedures ensuring that the Terms of Reference are kept up to date and that relevant financial policies and processes are in place maintained and followed.
  • Ensure that the Participant Panel is supported to be involved appropriately in Genomics England events and agreed external events.
  • Manage the forward planning for and administration of the Communications and Engagement Working Group with the Communications Director.
  • Work closely with the wider Communications and Engagement team to provide effective administration support to the Participant Panel including organising meeting venues travel and accommodation and administering the Participant Panel inbox.
  • Know and understand the meaning behind our virtues and leadership behaviours and embody them in all aspects of the role.

Blended working model

Genomics England operates a blended working model as we know our people appreciate the flexibility that hybrid working can bring. We expect most people to come into the office a minimum of 2 times each month. However this will vary according to role and will be agreed with your team leader. There is no expectation that people will return to the office full time unless they want to however some of our roles require full time on site attendance e.g. lab teams reception team. 

Our teams and squads have and will continue to reflect on what works best for them to work together successfully and have the freedom to design working patterns to suit beyond the minimum. Our office locations are: Canary Wharf Cambridge and Leeds.
