Your role

CBC is looking for a Senior Communications and Marketing Specialist to join the Brand and Community team. This team is responsible for the creation delivery and socialization of a CBC Brand strategy that articulates the expression of the CBC story through brand campaigns and integrated across our platforms products and marketing and communications.

Reporting to the Director Brand and Community the Senior Communications Officer and Marketing Specialist is responsible for projects across two workstreams: brand marketing and brand stewardship. The successful candidate will have experience in developing and coordinating marketing campaigns understanding principles of brand management and working crossfunctionally across different teams and business units.

The successful candidate is comfortable both working independently and in a highly collaborative team environment and possesses broad knowledge of CBCs programming platforms and services.

Based in Ontario this is a hybrid role with agreement to be inoffice at minimum one day per week.

Function:

Initiates creates plans produces and implements communications projects and/or marketing strategies in support of all CBC/RadioCanada departments and its audiences. Work must conform to and respect CBC/RadioCanada program and journalistic policies standards and practices as well as the ethics related to advertising standards. There is an expectation of initiative and creativity as well as the requirement to demonstrate good judgment. There is a regular requirement to coordinate the work of others.

Key Tasks:

  • Conceives develops and executes marketing and/or communications strategies.
  • Evaluates strategies and extensions across all media platforms in order to reach reflect engage with and grow audiences for CBCRadioCanada in consultation with internal and external teams.
  • Upon approval implements these strategies and projects.
  • Develops promotional concepts and approaches including conceiving planning and producing a wide variety of marketing and/or public relations campaign materials.
  • Implements in accordance with delegated authority or any necessary approval.
  • Collaborates with department teams with whom they engage.
  • Represents the Corporation as delegated.
  • Participates in the preparation of programming and/or department objectives.
  • Deliver on departmental objectives.
  • Conceive plan and implement public relations and outreach initiatives including media interviews and other promotional or public relations activities for actors onair personnel producers and senior management in accordance with CBCRadioCanada departmental objectives.
  • Gather write create content promotions; package and produce and deliver content promotions and marketing strategies.
  • Engage with audiences and reflect the diversity of Canadian communities.
  • Gather content appropriate to assignment choose locations props and wardrobe coordinate unit and gallery shoots direct production sessions select media and distributes to clients media outlets creative services and stakeholders.
  • Organize promote and provide communications support for community outreach and stakeholder relations initiatives.
  • Write multiuse biographies for actors writers producers directors journalists and other key production team members interviewing each as necessary.
  • Initiate write and place media advertisements and public relations materials.
  • Manage budget on selected projects; manages contracts with external clients.
  • Conceive and develop proposals and create content for complementary material for program information and promotion.
  • Design structure and organize and publish content.
  • Develops content including gathering creating manipulating and presenting as required.
  • Organize talent producers and other participants in all promotional activity including chats contests and interviews.
  • Provide communications staff with training and support.
  • Creates and develops community events and audience outreach initiatives and media relations strategies.
  • Conceptualizes and develops public relations concepts and approaches including developing and pitching story ideas to appropriate media developing and producing supporting marketing materials organizing publicity activities directing photoshoots and handling a wide variety of marketing inquiries and requests.
  • Ensures appropriate distribution of communication materials including marketing and creative assets press releases kits and event signage.
  • Seeks leads and provides organizational marketing and creative support with external partners at community events including those sponsored by the CBC and those events in which the CBC takes part.
  • Effectively manages partnerships/sponsorships with industry stakeholders and CBCRadioCanada programs and departments.
  • As required performs the following tasks:
    • May lead the work of others.
    • Analyze and evaluate audience relations data and provide advice in responding to sensitive audience requests or correspondence.
    • Analyze research data and paid media buying plans to inform strategic marketing concepts.
    • Prepare strategic creative and media briefs for internal and external media partners; prepare creative concepts.

Qualifications

  • Postsecondary education in Marketing/Advertising or related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a marketing or brand management role.
  • Experience working in crossfunctional and collaborative projectbased environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in marketing campaign development and media planning services.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects with tight deadlines.
  • Ability to travel on occasion as well as work long and/or irregular hours including evenings and weekends as per project requirements.
